Tax Office Woes
Arggghh Rant Time!
Trying to get through to HM Revenue & Custom to query my Tax code for the forthcoming year and their phone service when busy cuts me off everytime, so that I have to redial and go through the rigmarole of number pressing to get to the right option to then find them cutting me off again because they are too busy. Is there any number that does not do this and puts me in a queue? |

I'd leave it a few days, they've probably got a backlog because of the recent industrial action.

Keep phoning they'll answer eventually. |

All tax stuff is going to be a nightmare at the moment. The self-assessment penalty notices went out over the last couple of weeks so it's bound to cause a backlog.

There's been strike action and even at the best of times, HMRC don't answer one in every two calls at this time of year.

I found the best time to phone (as did colleagues) was about 7.30 pm just before they close. |

The quietest times are usually evenings and Saturday afternoons. They are open 8:00 till 16:00 on Saturdays.
