DICAPAC Underwater enclosure

Hey guys, not posted here for a while.. Anyway...

I am considering getting a DICAPAC WP-S10 enclosure as it seems like a really cheap (compared to the proper enclosures) way of taking a DSLR underwater.

http://www.digitalrev.com/en/dicapac...l?match_type=1

Just over 60 quid, imported from Hong Kong. They do one that would house my compact Nikon also, for about £25.

Anyone used one before. Good, bad, ugly?

Ahh, dunno why the link didn't work.

OneStop also have it and have agreed to price match DigitalRev who are about 8 quid cheaper (once postage is taken into account). linky

Not yet mate no, was hoping to see if anyone had anything good or bad to relate about them before I did. If I do buy it though, I'lll certainly report back and let people know what it's like.

edit: I just noticed your location driver8. Is that for real or wishful thinking? My wife and I are going on holiday to the Maldives in 3 weeks, hence the need for an underwater enclosure.

This thread has just grabbed my interest, as I'd love to get back into diving, and be able to take my camera with me, but the 'proper' housings are just too expensive.

A little searching found this little user-review, which seems well written:

http://www.danhimbrechts.com/blog/20...proof-housing/

It seems quite nicely made, but I'm not sure about it's roll in diving as it's only rated for <5m:

The instructions say it’s waterproof to 5 metres and I got it down to probably only two metres, but not once in all the times I took it out did it get even a drop of water inside, it does seem to be a lot better than it looks!
For paddling/snorkeling though, the idea is brilliant.

Thanks for that Dno, I hadn't managed to find a review, but it does sound like it would be worth a punt. We aren't intending to do anything other than snorkling with it, so it should be ok.

They do small versions for compact cameras also, might get one for my little coolpix also.

I've not been to many of the resorts, but I asked a friend in tourism and he said the Dive School & the food were particularly good here ! I've just read a few comments on Tripadvisor - sounds like it is all water bungalows, but maybe more of a 3-star than a 4-star as the bathrooms in particular are clean enough but ready for a refurb. Your enjoyment can hinge on expectations - don't assume perfection and you'll be fine !

Top tip - keep your camera/s handy for the seaplane transfer - fantastic views of the islands & atoll formations.

Have a great time !
