home cinema wiring options for projector and plasma

Anyone here own a projector and a plasma lcd?

was considering getting a largish plasma (50"+) for the cinema effect... quite interested in the Philips cinema TV but thats pretty expensive and costs a lot too and is only good for Blurays...

then I thought might be a good idea to get a decent projector for Blu-rays and a mid sized plasma/lcd for regular viewing...

however, might be complicated wiring both the LCD and projector to one blu-ray player... i.e. presumably the projector would need to be on the opposite end of the room to the LCD! (or a fair height and distance away)... hence how do we wire it to common sources/receviers (BD players, amp etc)...

would I need an uber long HDMI cable?

cheers

Easy-peasy! I have the following:-

Source Kit (BD player, games consoles, media players) in one location, with the amp, easiest if it's close to the plasma location.
HDMI cable out of the amp to an HDMI splitter (or a ridiculously expensive amp with two HDMI outputs) - along these lines although the one I got from Amazon was closer to £20 IIRC.
Then just have an HDMI cable out of the splitter to the plasma, and one running to the projector - I got a 10m HDMI cable for under £15 on Amazon.

I have a roll up screen (rented flat so can't do anything permanent, hence projector is on a coffee table and not ceiling mounted, ceiling mounted would require a longer HDMI) and can roll it up infront of my lcd screen.

Personally now I just watch *everything* on the projector - the LCD has been fired up about twice since I set it all up!

thanks!.. what projector are you using/do you recommend for decent full HD but not breaking the bank... my main concern re: using the projector for everything was the relatively short lifespan of lens compared to plasma...are lens easy to replace/find/cost effective?

The bit on the projector that goes is the lamp ... when I bought my Sony VPL-HW15 there was a promotion on where you got a spare lamp free. I suppose for an £1800 projector, a spare lamp giving you another 3000 hours use isn't too much to ask.

Some ideas for Full HD Projectors here. Also their throw calculator is helpful to work out screen size and location.

I've just got a fairly cheapy Epson LCD one that only does 720p (which I find good enough), and I don't have sufficient lighting control over the room to justify a really good one, and that (and the rainbow effect) was what made me choose LCD over DLP.

In my set up i have a optoma hd70 720p dlp projector and as samsung led lcd tv on my my wall and i have a pull down screen that comes down in front of the tv when needed. I feed all my cables from my bluray, sky hd,ps3 and 360 into my amp which is an onkyo 876. This has 2 hdmi outputs so i then run one hdmi cable direct to the tv and then run another 10m long hdmi cable to my projector. Before i got the onkyo i just used a splitter to spitt the single hdmi out from my old amp into 2 and then ran 2 cables again to my projector and tv.

I only use the projector for movies and the odd game and watch most stuff from sky on the tv unless there is a good footie game on.
