Shrewsbury Town :(

How humiliating for them being beaten by probably the worst team in the football league........could have made a lot of money by putting a bet on Grimsby actually winning a game for the first time in their record last 24 or 25 matches.
Still, might as well put the numbers 1-6 on the lottery tonight as miracles do happen.

How is Peacock doing? top bloke but seemed a bit leggy and unfit whenn he left us. Anyway you can still take Cheltenham, plus surely Darlo are worse than you.

Peacock has been great, shows a lot of passion, which we were often lacking.

I don't agree that we are the worst team in the league, we have had some great performances, and the defensive record has been impressive (especially when we were leaking goals at season start, 4-0 down our speciality) it's just been the lack of a killer edge in front of goal and the less said about the last few referees the better.

Im hoping now with a bit of confidence we can finally get going, but I think it's probably too late and it'll be Blue Square next year. It's just all the more galling when everyone around the club was just so optimistic before the season start - I honestly thought we had a chance of playoffs - and the BBC preseason guide said the same.

Darlington are the worst team in the league, but football is about scoring goals as well as a great defence. Draw all your matches and you'll probably end up being relegated.

Wow thanks for pointing that out, I obviously never realised that in order to win you had to score goals.

Oh wait, I did say though we were defensively better we just couldnt score, and were probably for Blue Square.

There was an interesting quote from Steve Claridge the other week about it:

Quote:
Grimsby haven't won for 20 games but they are still in touch and within six points of safety. The funny thing with them is that, in the last 14 games, they have conceded the same amount of goals as top-of-the-table Rochdale - 12. But Dale have scored 32 goals and Grimsby have scored six - there lies their problem.

Grimsby are not getting beaten all over the shop. In fact, they are very close to winning games, but something has got to change soon because if that gap gets much bigger then, psychologically, their players might start to wonder whether they can get out of it.

Touchy much? The league doesn't lie after 30+ matches. Anyway, hopefully you won't extend your run on Saturday.

Of course I'm bloody touchy, wouldn't you be if the club you've supported all your life, who you love so much you not only go to just about every game, you also go to reserve games and even the occasional bloody youth game, was on the verge of relegation and oblivion?

I'm not some **** who glory supports some Premiership club he cant even point to on a map, I'd expect a fellow lower league team fan to understand what someone's club means to a proper supporter, and not take the **** when they're down.

I understand how you're feeling, I just didn't agree with the "we're not that bad" part of your post. We only won 5 games in the first half of last season, and had a similar lack of cutting edge in front of good, but good performances aren't enough, results were what we needed.

Fortunately for you, Cheltenham are also having a stinker of a season and with a few results, you could easily miss the drop. Given how inconsitant Morecambe are, you could easily come away with a result at the weekend, we've only managed to score once in our last four games.
