Loud vibration from F&F Tokyo Drift BD -Faulty disc or player?
Bit of an odd one this. I have a Sony bdp-s360, and about 15 BDs, all of which play fine. I picked up the Fast and Furious quadrilogy recently and every time I play the Tokyo Drift disc, the player makes a very loud whirring noise, as the disc spins up. It's strong enough to cause the whole player to vibrate. It only happens with this disc making me think it's disc rather than player related.
Visibly, the disc doesn't seem to have any impefections, or moulding faults. Has anyone got the same disc, or have you seen this kind of thing happen before on BDs? Thought I'd check here, before sending it back to Play for a replacement. Cheers |

If its the same design as my 350 the front flap on the disc tray sometimes doesnt close properly, making it vibrate. If it happens, I just touch it gently to nudge it into place. Could it be the same sort of thing? It does tend to happen on specific discs for some reason.
It doesnt sound as extreme as yours tho. |

Hi
No, I'm afraid. It's coming from the disc/drive mechanism directly. I've tried (gently) to tilt the player, reposition it, etc, to see if it was 'friction' related, but it definately kicks in when the disc hits a certain speed. At slower speeds (eg during the play back of the film itself), the noise goes. It's most apparent during the initial boot, and playing back certain bonus features, which i presume are compressed or located elsewhere on the disc. A very prominant noise though, very different to 'standard' playback whirrs and grinds. |

I just got the Quadrilogy myself. I just tried the disc in my S360 and it is fine. No noises I wasn't expecting. Both my 360 and my 350 make a noise when loading titles but silent when playing something.

I'm sure you've already checked the disc for anomalies, like tiny cracks or something?

Loud noises is usually down to the disc being imbalanced. I would exchange it.
