Iomega iConnect Wireless Data Station. Thoughts?

http://go.iomega.com/en/products/net...erviewItem_tab

So from what I can gather this device will allow you to plug multiple USB hard drives and even printers and wireless access them not only in your house, but also through Iomegas website as well.

Has anyone already got one or got any observations? Sounds like this would be great for me as I've often been at work wanting some files from home, then I take my 1TB drive into work and want something when I'm home.

The wireless option for my printer would be great for me and the OH as well.

£70 RRP.

Does that mean it will come out today? Not sure what lead time is?

I would be very interested to see the process of accessing files remotely. If this can work with any USB hard drive, then I wonder if there is a setup where you could chain a whole load of hard drives in some usb caddy. Or would this support multiple hard drives connected through USB hubs.

So much potential.

Trouble is, I'm guessing there is no way to run squeezebox server off this, meaning you'd still have to have the laptop on

I bought one on the forum and once you get it work, it's very good. But I had a right arseache with getting my USB printer to become available to the wirless network. There is absolutely no instructions on how to get it to work and only some faffing around with the networking brings any joy (I'm still not sure what I did to get it to find the printer).

Accessing my USB storage devices seems to be good; I have a 1GB Pen drive and a knackered 250GB Western Digital which again with a bt of faffing turn up on the network. The software that comes with it seems rather pointless, but it does initally find the IP of the iConenct and set up the connections, which after I removed it could account for my issues. It still doesn't help with the printer mind.

It seems to sometimes find the iConnect as a computer but this is seems to be when it feels like it. For example I pinged it's IP then it decided to show (Combined with an F5).

I've just set it on a scan of my devices to see how well the media servers work, I'll report back on that.

So far an interesting and highly potent device but a lot of quirks.

OK, the scan has finished and it's found so much crap. Why do I have the soundtrack to Elder Scrolls 4?

Streams nicely to my Windows 7 laptop and to my 360. Doesn't transcode anything at all, m4p and video codecs that the 360 doesn't recognise still don't work.
