Unhappy [360] Wireless headset - problem pairing

I've bought the Xbox 360 wireless headset, but can I get the bugger to pair

I have 1 wireless controller connected on number 1, but the headset will only pair on 2, 3 or 4 - 1 isn't an option. If I turn off the controller then the headset pairs on number 1 but as soon as I turn the controller back on the headset shifts to number 2 and I can select 3 or 4 but not number 1.

Nb. I have disconnected the wired headset from the controller.

Any ideas?

Cheers

It's broken, swap it for a new one. Although i wouldn't bother as the wireless ones are too quite, the mute is in a bad place and it picks up every sound in the room for your mate to hear. Wish MS or someone would bring out a premium headset.

I think the wireless headset is superb - far better than the junk you get free with the console, and prefer using it to my turtle beach headset I have.

Nope, it's not broken, it's a known and never fixed issue with early 360 wireless controllers. Let me see if I can google you a solution. I think I complained to MS about using their official hardware and having compatibility issues and they sent me a new pad, without asking for the old one back. I now use that old one for my PC with the wireless controller receiver dongle thing.

Maybe it's just this - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6181005AA97Nly - all along but I read at the time that some of the controllers (is yours old?) were defective and just wouldn't pair.

Do you have any other controllers you can try as your main controller? That would prove that it's your controller at fault at which point, warranty or not, you're using their official licensed product and getting a shoddy experience. Compain.

Cheers for that - a mate gave me this 360 and it was a day 1 release so I guess original controller as well, unfortunately I don't have another controller to try.

I got a new wireless controller this week and it's working fine now.
