Surely it's the opposite and it sounds soooooooo high nowadays??

The days of massive viewing figures are long gone.

lol, you've got issues (despite my agreeing with you mostly).

I was having a drink whilst watching the explanation show and I have to confess to being confused at times - I think he is usually brilliant, but it was weird seeing him big up the type of nonsense explanations that he usually enjoys exposing.

But I guess the entire programme is part of the sham - the preview of the show stated that these are all misdirections. How clearly should he really have to state it.

It's a media event more than anything, which I guess is disapointing because I think lots of what he does is really great.

At the same time, whilst I knew the explanations were nonsense, I still found it fun.

I have seen this mentioned a few times on Australian TV (brekkie tv etc) along with footage of him turning the balls around and a bit from the reveal programme and the portrayal here is that Derren successfully predicted the lottery numbers and that he is therefore amazing !

Surely if it is as he said it is with the maths by crowds etc then all that someone else has to do is a similar crowd thing next week and see if it works or not!

Probably the same in the US, he is getting a fair bit of international "I'm awesome" mileage out of this, probably much like David Blaine does.

Mind you they are still going on about SuBo here

I'm with everyone else and agree the reveal show was rubbish.

I will however be tuning in this week. If he can hypnotise the nation to be stuck to their seats then I will be hugely impressed

I can save you the disapointment now if you like. He won't be able to, but will be able to create the illusion that he has at least managed some of it.

It'll be interesting to see how he proves everyone is stuck to their seats

He'll probably just have Kelly Brook parade around wearing nothing but a fig leaf. That'll be half the country firmly seated.

Entirely in line with what I'd expect from an illusionist. I can't believe people got worked up about this - yeah the reveal show was largely rubbish and not sophisticated enough to stop most people seeing at as a load of cobblers but hey - he's a magician, what did you all expect?

Nearly every time Derren Brown has explained a trick to you, he's never really explained it. He's usually just redirecting you again. A lot of his 'mind magic' is straight out conjuring tricks that he rebrands as 'mentalism'.

Can't wait for Friday!

I thought the reveal show was good, not because it showed us how he did it, but how convinced the group were that they were actually predicting numbers. Has anyone pointed out that for the final prediction only Derren was allowed to work out the numbers and we weren't allowed to see. I'd be very surprised if they got the numbers, otherwise why not let everyone see?

If I had to do this I'd publish a phone number to get those that were able to move to call during the show - except I'd make sure the number was false and did not exist ... then declare that as nobody had phoned in they must all be stuck to their seats

It's going to be some kind of hypnosis suggestion type "I'll stick you to your chair if you believe I can stick you to your chair" type thing... but I'm going to really listen and see if he can actually make me believe that I believe him. Give me your best shot Derren!

Although, unless I need the loo I probably won't want to get anyway.

He has just tweeted for everyone to "will" the rain to stop in London. I replied "you've more chance of winning the lottery Derren"... waiting for reply. I hope this isn't a start of him being a bull waste peddling **** like Uri Gellar. I can't stand that.

All we saw was some people looking surprised, I'm sure you learn that in the first term at drama school.

All I saw was that girl with the wonky eyes and teeth having a spasm in the front row. Nice legs though

Last time I saw him live he made a bunch of people stand up involutarily so I expect he can make them stay sat too. However the thing about sumliminals in rubbish - I think its hypnotic suggestion and the subliminal talk is just to get people in a receptive frame of mind. That said - hasn't he glued people to their seats on his regular show before? He's just upping the ante by trying to do it to people at home.

BTW I thought the reveal show last week was very sly indeed. Liked it...

There's the germ of a good idea there, but surely it would be much more profitable to have a premium rate phone line that costs £1 to call, and played a recorded message saying the caller was clearly too intelligent to be hypnotised. Obviously it'd be even more profitable if the previous week you'd run a show that would attract the attention of gullible idiots. Then at the end of the show, you just lie about number of callers.

Oops, forgot the missus was signed in - this is Mr Neverland.

Speaking for myself, I expected a better "reveal" from DB. He's got more style and class than the explanation he gave. If you are going to make up some kind of explanation then it needs to be at least plausible. This I think fell so far below his normal qaulity I just can't get my head round it and found it confusing.

The only thing I can come up with is he really did fix the lottery balls or he used camera tricks. The poor "real explanation" is the diversion to get people to think he really did fix the balls. So his misdirection worked. If it was a camera trick I think it might be a complete one off and he won't do it again.Downside is people now will always think "Did he use mirrors or cameras ?" on anyhting he does that is similar.

The killer bit is I totally belive he could get some one to change the balls. The person would never know

I think it was a clever combination of both mirrors and cameras
