I thought I'd have a go at this prediction thing myself last night with Saturday's Lottery draw. And, unlike Derren Brown, I set myself the task of revealing my prediction before the numbers were drawn...

How did I do? Check out the results...

The bus footage wouldn't be difficult to do. If the kids hold up the numbers it's not difficult to track objects like that and replace the numbers. They are also only kids so they won't remember and won't know they difference between holding up balls with numbers on or with no numbers on. Maybe the reason why they didn't air the footage is because they didn't finish it in time or after the screams of camera trickery all over the place they weren't happy with the quality of it. I can't think of any other reason why they wouldn't show it, it was clearly the little "icing on the cake" that show needed and why it fell flat.

How did you guess???

The entire thing was done live, but with a blank post-it note for the first reveal and a glamorous assistant writing the numbers in "off-screen" so I could show them again at the end. I then re-filmed a pan from the tv to the post-it and edited it in afterwards so I could get that "before" shot. Yes, and re-dubbed the audio for that bit, but I have to admit my voice sounded a bit different! The only tricky bit was colour-matching the pan to the post-it (the little camera I was using was going mad adjusting light levels and white-balance...)

I've got an old version of Adobe After Effects that I use for things like this, but I suspect most video editing packages could do it as long as they give you a little bit of control over effects - for example you could do a simple "screen wipe" from one shot to another, but "freeze" the wipe effect halfway so you get one shot on one side of the screen and another on the other side with a nice blend between them.

I think I may have to ask on here how to defend myself agaisnt these idiots who think it was real! Seriously I am out numbered beyond words.
I am about the ONLY person who knows its crap, yet they take every word as fact from Derrens mouth.

What the hell do I say to these people in real life!

I have already been called a closed minded ignorant idiot made me smile from someone who think Derren knew the numbers.

I seem so alone on this subject, I can see me smacking someone in the head tommrow it is one time I wish it was net life so I could just tell them to go make love to themself but sadly in real life thats not on

Well I dont even care for a summary, I dont care at all how it was done to be honest as I hate magic and everything that goes with this new age fake crap.

I just know he lied, it's crap and he did not know the numbers before the lottery. But telling that to anyone with a small brain, well they just cannot comprehend reality and magic from each other.

The coin toss portion of the show summed it up for me. he spent a while saying how the red team could "will" their person to win and they thought OMG this is incredible. Then he showed it was all rubbish as he proved there was no chance the single (blue) guy was ever going to win. So basically he owned up that you cant predict such random events

The only thing I didnt get was how he managed to get 4 numbers correct with that group of 24 people the week before

well who knows how he rounded the numbers to get them to match?

and how much leaway there was to be "correct" - ie 1 away, switch the order of the number around.

Well according to Db there is no point drawing the lottery at all, they may as well just average the numbers people have picked and select them that way.

All though people called me earlier in the thread I'm repeating it, that explanation isn't how he predicted the numbers and the man is a fraud.

His explanation is crap because it implies a paranormal method, and Brown has always stated he doesn't believe in the paranormal...

I don't think he did do that - if he did he was lying. When the 'blue' bloke chose HHH, then DB was 7 times more likely to win with his choice. If the 'blue' bloke had chosen another combination then DB's chances could have gone down to just 2:1.

Whatever the 'blue' bloke chose, it was never impossible that he would win.

Ah but even though he has stated numerous times he doesn't believe in that bunkum people (in this case the group of 24) will still buy into it all. This is what makes this fun I think.
