Leon Blu-ray

Whilst browsing through Amazon.de, I came across this:

Fantastic news.

Great movie, but I've never seen the extended cut. So definitely one to get!

Don't know what version I like more. The longer one works better as a human drama, but the tighter pacing of the theatrical cut is definitely more thrilling.

Anyone remember importing the Japanese SD-DVD for big bucks many years ago??? No doubt this will end up in my collection - stunning film.

Don't have it, but I do remember reading about it - it was the one that came in a CD jewel case and had no menus?

I have the Korean SD double pack with the two versions of the film on separate disks. Not sure if I'll go for an HD version just yet... maybe...

Is that steelbook packaging I can see? Nice. I think I'll order one just for the hell of it, seeing as Sony (US) and Disney (UK) haven't bothered with Leon so far, although Sony do have La Femme Nikita slated for a December release in the US.

I like the longer cut a lot, so not having the shorter version won't be a big deal, but as AK rightly said the shorter cut does provide a more tightly-paced experience (much like T2).

Indeed. Is it too much to hope for a comprehensive edition at some point?

Yeah, I'm also wondering though if it's the same label as over here (Disney, I think) then maybe we could see a similar UK release. Although AFAIK the longer cut has never been classified by the BBFC.

Isolated music track as well, trivia track and some featurettes/docus. Can't wait for this.

You're right, only the theatrical versions has ever been classified in the UK.

It's high time that Disney pulled their finger out and gave Leon the treatment it deserves over here. I think the UK DVD is still the same crappy non-anamorphic disc that came out yonks ago.

just gave my Japanese DVD to someone, do have 3 other DVD's of the same film , think I paid over £30 which seemed a lot back then, apart from a few scenes wasn't all that keen on the uncut version, great news both versions on one disc
