My current work place is OK, but my last 2 work places couldn't cope with it. You regularly find this problem when you're registering online for things. |

You're probably better off getting a domain name and forwarding email to a Googlemail account - costs about £6 for 2 years - judging by all the bad comments Sky's email service is getting (and the unresolved problems Sky happily admit to having with their email service) |

To be honest I only started doing it when I left Plus.net for Sky. If you forward the email to GMail then you collect your mail via POP3 in Outlook. I then send all my emails out via Sky's SMTP server without any problems. |

Thanks, Adam, but I'm not sure I understand a word of what you said. I think I need to do some homework...

Get yourself an invite to GoogleMail (if you haven't got an account already) and forward emails addressed to your new domain name to your GoogleMail account. In GoogleMail, make sure your account is setup to allow POP3 access and then use the guides, on GoogleMail's website, to setup Outlook/Thunderbird/whatever to retrieve the email from Googlemail. For the SMTP server setting in Outlook just use Sky's SMTP server (smtp.sky.com I think) |

They never sent me a password but went to Sky.com, added my username and it asked me to set up a password there and then. Did that, created profiles and all is good.
My only outstanding issue is that in theory I have the 16Mb service. Have my Vigor 2700 router set up to use G.992.5 protocol for ADSL2+ but I'm still syncing at exactly the same downspeed as my previous ISP (F2S) of 5512000. I've not seen any of the 10 days of changing speeds etc. My router shows connection protocol as G.DMT. Have I simply swtiched over ISP with everything else remaining exactly the same? |

Also, unless you are on the Connect (maxDSL) package (which you can't be if you're syncing at 12000) then you won't get the "10 days" thing. |

It wasn't the case with me, but hasn't it been said that Sky now send the router after you have been activated?
Anyway, is there any advantage to me using the Sky router (DG834GT), as opposed to my own DG834G? I'm currently using the DG834G, as that was what was connected when my line finally went active, and it also has all my wireless network details on it. |

So the T stands for turbo then
Not too bothered about wireless speeds, as I rarely use it, so will still with the DG834G and keep the DG834Gt as a spare. |
