Ta.
She's tried calling back Tier 1 but gets the usual 'we can't put you through'. I got that while I had sign-up troubles but I was a bit more persuasive. It's been more than the promised 3-5 days for the callback so I'd hope T1 would be more willing to put me/her through now to resolve the case. I'll try my router - thanks.

I've been waiting for a call back from Tier 3 for 6-7 weeks now but still nothing. I tried to get the direct phone number from Sky but they said they didn't have it
If anyone has details of how to contact them please let me know. Thanks |

Okay some advice would be appreciated.
My "need to reboot modem" before getting online issues have resurfaced whereby I turn on pc, find MSN doesn't log in [and I cannot get online]. Any one of the following works: 1) logging into the admin console - if there is an IP address listed I disconnect then reconnect 2) if no IP address listed I have to unplug it all, wait 30sec , reboot and restart pc [might even need to do it more than once]. I was finding this happened after the router had been on for a few days so I wondered if it was an overheating issue but the whole system has been powered down for 2 weeks at the mains and I have had the same problem last night and today. I find that the freephone number doesn't work so was online with a Tier 1 08702 muppet who basically said that as I was currently online there was nothing she could do, she couldn't raise a Tier 3 ticket for me and would not replace my modem. What do you suggest I do next???? |

It's also quite nice having telnet access to the router; something that's disabled by default in the original sky f/w.
With telnet server enabled you can tweak the target SnR to improve your connection speed. More details here. |

Can you go back to the Sky firmware?
What if you have a problem with the router, and need to contact sky. |

I'm not too worried about having to go back to sky for tech support as I've got 2 sky routers - the muppets sent me 2!
![]() So one is flashed and the other is still vanilla sky f/w. You may be able to flash back, but do your research on skyuser.co.uk first.

I'm currently using my DG834G anyway, and have kept my Sky DG834GT as a backup.

I just live with Sky Broadband 16MB and I have had nothing but excellent service. I had a few problems with E-mails, but that was sorted straight away and within minutes I was able to send and recieve e-mails and much faster downloads.
I moved for Eclipse Internet where their service was none existant. Slow downloads and most times not recieving e-mails. |

I'm finally starting to get somewhere now. Finally got through to Tier 3 who were really helpful. They diagnosed there was an issue with my connection straight away and are getting BT to investigate.
A handy hint... the women at Sky said that Tier 1 support can now put customers straight through to Tier 3 (after a few questions)... the policy was changed on the 18th of this month. After 2 months of Tier 3 not contacting me this is exactly what I needed. |

Is anyone here on Sky Max? Are the killing the speeds after you downloaded so much?
With Hi-velocity atm and paying £19.99p/m for totally unlimted never had any down speed and CS is always first class. I had a letter from sky yesterday saying my Max will be here in the summer for £10p/m and unlimted. |

I'm desperately trying to flash my Sky router (had all sorts of probs with dropout) with the Netgear firmware and I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right (have sky login and password safely extracted): HOWEVER, the Netgear Recovery Utility simply does. not. work. It finds my network card but graphically corrupts when I try to advance to the next stage and also can't find the firmware image, even though it's saved in the same folder as the recovery utility.
Is there anything else I can do? Any other program I can use, cos the Netgear one's utter ****.

You are using a network cable to connect to the router aren't you? And you've got the router ready for the upgrade, i.e. "Power and Test light flash in an alternating way." ?

Yep, it's all good. The Netgear application just won't run properly - it simply corrupts and won't start the upgrade process. I'm positive I've done everything else right. I've had a Google and it seems it refuses to work for a few other people. I've tried it in safe mode and all sorts. It's just a nasty piece of code.
I've got a spare router (Linksys) but I really don't want to go back to that because it's lousy.
