Jayne Mansfield movies

Hope someone can help.

My girlfriend really loves "The Girl Can't Help It" and I'd like to buy her another couple of Jayne's dvds (hopefully similar light, frothy comedies)

Can anyone recommend any? - I've had a look on imdb and don't recognise any of the titles. Is 'Kiss Them For Me' and good?

Cheers

Not really a fan, but the films in the forthcoming The Jayne Mansfield Collection are quite decent. Kiss Them For Me is minor Cary Grant, but okay.

Thanks for the link John.

I wasn't particualrly struck with 'The Girl Can't Help It' myself, but the boxset could be an ideal gift for an upcoming Birthday!

As The Girl Can't Help It and Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter are two of my wife's favourite films I'll be looking for a good price on this before Christmas - thanks for pointing this out John..

Now, if only the boxset included her Mondo World Tour, The Wild Wild World Of Jayne Mansfield as well I could replace the old VHS version!

My dad was also quite a fan of The Girl Can't Help It (the rock'n'roll, you see, as well as the topography), but I wanted to smash the TV whenever Mansfield opened her mouth, particularly when she sings that song - where she does the impersonation of a siren?

OT but I was gobsmacked (although not sure why!) to learn that Mariska Hargitay from tv's Law & Order is Jayne Mansfield's daughter and was in the car when she died!

Just got an early copy of the boxset, so I'll check out the transfers later this evening.

WSSRH? is a Tashlin classic. How could anyone not love that movie? Box is worth it for that alone IMO.

Have checked out the transfers of both - I wouldn't say they're reference quality, but the color is garish (as it should be) and they're pretty sharp and anamorphic and it's great to have them. Really looking forward to watching all of them. The opening to both films always make me laugh out loud.

Does "The Girl I can't help it" include a stereophonic track ? A long time ago, I heard that 20th Century Fox was searching for a stereo soundtrack but they were unable to locate it. That's the reason why they didn't want to release it on laserdisc.

Rock Hunter has its 4.0 track and it sounds swell. Girl Can't Help It has a mono track and a stereo track, but I fear the latter is one of those fake stereo spreads they're fond of doing when they can't find their real stereo tracks.

Do they have the trailers for each film as extras on them?

Each film has its trailer, plus commentary track - one of them has the A&E Biography on Mansfield, and the other has some newsreel footage.
