Ren & Stimpy coming from Paramount!
(taken from Tvshowsondvd)
Happy Happy, Joy Joy! Ren and Stimpy fans who missed out on last year's Time-Life offerings can rejoice! Paramount has quietly let retailers know that Ren and Stimpy - The Complete 1st & 2nd Seasons will be available to sell in-stores on October 12! Over 30 episodes will be present on this release: "Stimpy's Big Day", "The Big Shot", "Stimpy's Storybook Land: Robin Hoek", "Nurse Stimpy", "Space Madness", "The Boy Who Cried 'Rat!'", "Fire Dogs", "Stimpy's Storybook Land: The Littlest Giant", "Marooned", "Untamed World", "Black Hole", "Stimpy's Invention", "In the Army", "Powdered Toastman", "Ren's Toothache", "Big House Blues", "Out West", "Rubber Nipple Salesmen", "Sven Hoek", "Mad Dog Hoek", "Haunted House", "Big Baby Scam", "Dog Show", "Son of Stimpy", "Monkey See, Monkey Don't", "Fake Dad", "The Great Outdoors", "The Cat That Laid The Golden Hairball", "Stimpy's Fan Club", "A Visit to Anthony", and "The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen". For those of us who managed to get the short-lived direct sale offering before Time-Life's rights (quickly) expired, there's still good reason to also get the new set. Besides 10 episodes that weren't on the old discs ("Mad Dog Hoek", "Haunted House", "Big Baby Scam", "Son of Stimpy", "Monkey See, Monkey Don't", "Fake Dad", "The Cat That Laid The Golden Hairball", "Stimpy's Fan Club", "A Visit to Anthony", and "The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen"), Paramount's release will also have these extras: Audio Commentary Featurette Image Gallery Neat add-ons that make it worth adding this to your collection, eh? Something else that would make it worthwhile is if these turn out to be the completely unedited versions of each short. As an example, in the episode "Powdered Toastman", a document is burned in the fireplace, making a joke out of the ignorance of "PTM" when he unwittingly shoves it in. Originally the paper was identifiable as the U.S. Constitution by the words "We The People" at the top, but on the Time-Life DVDs it is only a blank piece of paper. This is just one example of the edits this show has seen, both for broadcast and on the old DVDs. C'mon, Paramount...give us the unedited, original versions of each cartoon! The running time is listed at 418 minutes, and pricing info isn't yet available. Nor is cover art, but we expect to have that reasonably soon. Stay tuned for more! In the meantime, recite the oath: "I do hereby promise only to watch the Ren & Stimpy Show..."

Sounds like it could be promising. I just hope these are unedited versions otherwise what's the point really (I didn't get the Time-Life release for that very reason on principal).

october 12 is 5 days after my birthday. i know where my moneys on if paramount are able to deliver a really good, uncut set. surely they must realise this is what the fans of R&S are craving for, and in all honesty.. if you're not a fan.. you're not going to buy it.
the episode about the bad tooth makes me squirm so much... its HORRIBLE in places. i love it

I'll definitely be buying this (or putting it on my Xmas list) if only to see Ren's soliloquy with a bar of soap in Space Madness again!
btw did anyone ever see the Spumco cartoon 'Ripping Friends' that was on the Cartoon Network at very odd hours in the morning a while back? I managed to record pretty much all of them, even better than R&S in my opinion, completely insane superhero cartoon |

I saw the first four episodes of THE RIPPING FRIENDS (had it on DVD) and personally I thought it was diabolical. I couldn't believe the same people that came up with REN & STIMPY were responsible for it.

If they're unedited I'll be buying them. I worked on a Ren & Stimpy SNES game once, and got to see all of the early episodes before the censors got their hands on them.
George Liquor and the oar hit. I think the episode where Ren loses all his teeth should be shown to all schoolchildren. It'd decrease gum disease and tooth decay by shocking the little blighters into brushing their teeth every day.

I avoided the Time-Life ones because of the cuts but will buy this if it is indeed unedited |

Great news. I'd love to have this on DVD!

"Our country reeks of trees, our yaks are really large... and they smell like rotting beef carcases!"
Ahhh yeah, I've been waiting for these for YEARS! Thought they might not even bother with them on dvd (since Ren & Stimpy's stock has fallen so low in recent years). It's a shame Nickelodeon own the characters and that Kricfalusi couldn't take them with him when he got the push. All the post-JK Ren & Stimpy sucked (with a very, very few Bob Camp exceptions). I quite like Spumco's other stuff (Jimmy the Idiot Boy and the recent Tenacious D vid are wikkid) but truly John Kricfalusi hasn't been able to fulfill a lot of the things I'd hoped he'd eventuate, but then that's because ppl won't give him the money. I *love* the Mighty Mouse stuff he did with Bakshi. regards, anephric

Awesome news. All I have is a bunch of videos, many of which were recorded in EP mode. My 'Log' t-shirt was a favourite for a long time!

I can't stand this program. I don't know why, but i took an instant dislike to it when i first saw it and ever since i've failed to see the funny side of it.
At least they are bothering to give it a good release though. |
