Few jumped up and down with glee, but then, since it's been firmed up, few have also jumped up and down - go through the pages and pages of this thread. That's how it is. If you've got other news, including the FDS extras, please, why not pass it on - some people may even jump up and down. Last edited by John Hodson; 19-07-2006 at 13:47. |

Cribbed from the DVD Tak forum:
For September release - FILM NOIR-DARK SIDE OF HOLLYWOOD (Kino) Sudden Fear, The Long Night, Hangmen Also Die, Railroaded, and Behind Locked Doors ...and they also claim to have a date for that Forbidden Planet 2 Disc SE (Oct. 3) and Mutiny on the Bounty 2 Disc SE (1962) (Oct. 10) Outside out remit, but someone here will surely be happy to learn that Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Box 2 is coming Oct. 17, and BBC/Warners is releasing a DVD of The Shooting Party the same day. |

A-ha! Alfred Hitchcock Presents: season 2. Lovely! And by October, I might just have finished getting through the 40-odd episodes in season one.

I've noticed that there is little jumping up and down now that it's officially announced. Studios do come to realize that all these people who are crying, begging, drooling for a particular release like Flower Drum Song, are really about ten people on different forums - even though different forums, usually the same ten people, like Mr. Joecaps. And when the announcement if finally made, all that really happens is the ten people go "GREAT" and then carp about something. It's funny, but it's always the same. Less of that goes on here, which is why I like here better than 'there'. |

Hitch, I wish for the Boetticher's as much as you. I keep asking - I keep hearing squat. I, too, am very excited for Mutiny - a film I saw many times during its reserved seat engagement. Hopefully it will be as good as Grand Prix, transfer-wise. And Naked Spur - I'm hoping for a great transfer on that, too, and not for a brown mess like the VHS.

Network has updated its forthcoming page and there some tasty looking goodies on the way: September 4 sees The Uncanny and Countess Dracula SE, September 18 sees SEs for The Medusa Touch and (huzzaah!) Things to Come.
And on September 25, Leslie Woodhead's 1969 documentary The Stones in The Park Nice! |

DVD Times has added more Fox titles to the September slate:
House of the Damned - $14.98 SRP - A perfect romantic getaway turns into a hellish nightmare in this suspense-filled thriller! Architect Scott Campbell (Ron Foster) and his wife Nancy (Merry Anders) join another couple, Joseph and Loy Schiller (Richard Crane and Erika Peters), for what promises to be a pleasant stay at an empty castle set on a secluded California hillside. Soon, however, tension mounts as terrifying things begin happening: A group of ghoulish circus performers who once inhabited the castle become increasingly hostile towards their “guests,” turning their mini-vacation into a life-and-death challenge of wits! A barebones release, this flipper-disc contains the film in 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen on one side and 1.33:1 Full Frame on the other. English Stereo and Mono audio tracks are provided along with French and Spanish subtitles. Night Train to Paris - $14.98 SRP - This gripping thriller stars Leslie Nielson as former American O.S.S. Agent Alan Holiday, now living in London and caught in a web of intrigue, murder and deceit! When a beautiful woman (Alizia Gur) visits him one New Year’s Eve, claiming to be a friend of his old boss, Jules Lemoine (Hugh Latimer) he is convinced to smuggle a tape recording containing defence information to Paris on Lemoine’s behalf. But all is not as it seems, and when Lemoine is murdered, Holiday realizes that a deadly enemy has staged a terrible ruse…one in which he has taken part, and may not survive! A barebones release, this flipper-disc contains the film in 1.66:1 Anamorphic Widescreen on one side and 1.33:1 Full Frame on the other. English Stereo and Mono audio tracks are provided along with French and Spanish subtitles. Also arriving on 5th September priced at $14.98 SRP each are two titles plucked from the recent Mel Brooks Collection and released separately - Robin Hood: Men in Tights and To Be or Not To Be. |

For the Alan Clarke completists, Network is bringing out Billy The Kid and the Green Baize Vampire on 7th August. It's Ł12.99 and, as far as I know, is the first ever home video release of the film anywhere in the world.

Quick, someone alert Mr. Joecaps that he once again jumped all over a studio based on erroneous information from a website. And the alert the others who did the same.

Oh, someone, John, anyone, go over there and put those people out of their misery. As I said over a month ago, there are extras (it's a SE for God's sake) - I know people who are involved - there's a commentary track, interviews (I presume within documentaries), etc. Don't these people ever google?

Be a bit remiss if I didn't mention this here, apologies for quoting myself from the 'Optimum' thread:

Found an extra report on DVD Maniacs re the above, they got it from dvddrive-in.com:
"It has just been confirmed that Sony will release a DVD box set in October called "Icons of Horror Collection: Boris Karloff." The set will include the following Karloff Columbia titles: THE BLACK ROOM, THE MAN THEY COULD NOT HANG, BEFORE I HANG and THE BOOGIE MAN WILL GET YOU. No exact date yet, and no retail price yet, but we’ll report more details as soon as they come in." Sony were to release several Columbia Karloff titles for Halloween last year but I don't recall seeing them anywhere. I suspect these were held back and might make up the rest of the eleven. A bit of a hotch-potch of classics coming: Universal is sneaking Doris Day's The Ballad of Josie out into R2 at the end of the month, while there's a raft of titles from DDHE: Life in Emergency Ward 10, which spawned a long running TV series, has just been released, as has tough Brit gangster film No Orchids for Miss Blandish, Compton Bennett's The Years Between and The Silver Darlings. Coming soon are Aleaxander Korda's Conquest of the Air (Aug. 14), Arthur Askey is Charley's Aunt (Aug. 14), and the same date brings Roy Boulting's Fame is The Spur, and Charles Barton's Louisiana Hayride.
