Dell XPS M1330 Laptop

I ordered one of these and its terrific. Thanks also for the prompt delivery.

I have a couple of questions though:

1) Its got Vista Buisness installed but the label on the bottom says Home premium. Do I need to change the coded to correct this?

2)If I decide to have a play with linux does the reinstal disc contain everything or is it just a boot for partition ( should I decide I want togo back to vista).

Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

I'm sorry about the licence issue, it should of been changed before the laptop was sent out. Please let me know your order number and I will send you the correct licence

Regarding the disc, normally dell discs contain everything that is required for a fresh install so you should be safe but just to make sure I would check the size of the data on the disc and if it's over 2gb it will contain everything.

Oli

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Order number was H856633.

On closer inspection there is no Dell restore CD ( or partitions on the drive come to that) and from what ive read as the machine isnt registered to me little chance of getting one from dell ?) . There is however Mediadirect, webcam and drivers/utilities Cd's. I have an OEM vista cd of my own so I take it I could just reinstall with that to be legal using the license that already on it ( premium would be fine ).

Sorry for multiple questions again LOL

I've arranged to get the correct licence sent out to you, if it's not with you by Thursday please let me know.

Regarding the reinstall, a vista OEM cd will work fine as long as it is the business edition. I personally format and do a fresh install on all my laptops / baseunits as all the 3rd party software can cause the machine to run slower but that is down to personal preference. All of the drivers can be downloaded from dells website even if they aren't on the disc.

I hope this helps

Oli
