No they haven't removed multi-touch on the browser. There is a setting for it in the browser settings though. Maybe you toggled it off by mistake.

Weird, can't see any useful settings in the browser, only thing close is a "default zoom" option with only far/medium/close.

Bah, lots of little things aren't working, music app doesn't recognise any new mp3 I put on the SD card when it used to sync every time I disconnected the usb cable and opened the app. Can't see an option to get it to sync manually either

2.1 sucks!

Rebooted phone and browser now behaving

Anyone running the new Froydvillian 2.2? Think of flashing to it later on so any feedback appreciated.

Thanks

Yes - I took the plunge last night. So far I'm not too thrilled - it's pretty laggy on my handset and I'm getting a contant "GApps" crash from somewhere. I'm going to give it a day in production use then make my decision what to do with it.

EDIT: Not unique to this ROM, but a superb app Wired Tether for Root Users. What I love about this is that it not only tethers to the 2G/3G network but also WiFi which is useful if you have a machine with no WiFi card and just need quick access.

I am waiting for Lox to do some more work on the Cyanogen Mod before I update to 2.2.

Just thought I'd say how much I love LauncherPro!

I have only just realised the potential of resizing widgets (first time I tried it I chose widgets that did not resize well!). But I've saved a load of space on my main home screen with resiving the Google Search widget and the Power Control widget being resized to half their normal size whilst stil being fully functional

I'm so glad the enforced Exchange security policy has made it from HTC to Google in 2.2 No bloody way around it either from what I can gather.

LauncherPro is awesome and well worth the couple of dollars for the "Plus" version

I stumbled upon the resize function whilst reorganising one of my screens and it's such a simple but really useful feature.

I also love the ability to hide certain apps (for example those which have a "key" app as well as the app itself meaning two icons for the same app).

Chrome2Phone is a neat piece of functionality - I was a bit miffed at having to install Chrome on my lappy...until I found Send to Phone, a C2P-compatible extension for Firefox

Well, I put Froydvillian 2.2 on and so far it seems very good. Nice and smooth and not had any issues...yet. However, I may be going mad, but for the life of me I cannot see where to set the wireless key index when connecting to wifi. I know it was missing in earlier versions of Android, but was then put in later.

Please tell me I'm just being stupid and they haven't taken it back out again!!!

Re: New HTC Android Phone- Hero

For me so far VR12 with the fly kernel has been both quickest and most stable ... see no burning need for 2.2 (shrug)

How are people getting on with Froyd Villain? It sounds like it's pretty much good to go but there are various people with various random problems that keep making me hold off. I am hoping LoxDev ( @loxdev on twitter) has a chance to do some of the Cyanogen ROM stuff, but it appears he's been caught up with his real life work!

Might make the switch to Froyd Villain as I am quite keen.

Are any apps actually using the C2DM API? I thought it would be really useful for sports score notification apps, and eg, online chess apps, but so far I don't seem to be mssing any great implementations of this sort of stuff whilst I am on Éclair 2.1

I'm on FV1.4.1 and on the whole it's pretty good, I keep stumbling upon certain issues;

I get random reboots when using GPS or the Camera - can't pin it down and it's not every time
The battery life isn't brilliant - about 18 hours for me but I'm a "power" user
The Exchange Server Policy can't be bypassed (more FroYo specific)
Too many bitty updates from the VR guys - at least they are consistent bug-fixers

Positives;
It's fast
There are more 2.2-only apps appearing
I've weened myself off of Sense (LauncherPro is the future )

Running 1.4.4 and apart from the occasional lag, running smoother and faster than anything before it. I'm finding battery life to be good, previously by the time I was going to bed (midnight'ish) it would be down to 10%, lately it's been still around the 45% mark!

Not had any of the GPS/Camera crashes.

Loving 2.2 so far

Went through the pain of the 2.1 update on Orange and now the Bluetooth functionality has gone insane. Hardly ever manages to connect to my car's Blaupunkt bluetooth thingy, randomly starts streaming music from the phone to the car stereo (despite repeatedly telling it not to stream any media and just use the phone connection)... the handful of improvements on 2.1 weren't worth this grief. Any known solutions?
