I've seen the 1201n in the flesh and am very impressed with it, real world battery life is 4+ hours so perfectly acceptable and the HD Playback via HDMI to a 32" LCD is fantastic.

Thinking of teaming it with an SSD and upping the RAM to 4GB, will be an awesome system which will tick every box, except by bank managers

LOL!!

Yes we did :P

We ended up with an Acer Aspire 1 and a Lenovo S10...

Happy with both... obviously there are areas for improvement but then you have to remind yourself that these are netbooks else they'd be laptops

Actually looking for a netbook for me and hopefully a decent tablet for the kids to use when they start filtering through later in summer... might actually just get them a couple of ipod touchs.

Thanks for the info...

Forgive my dumb questions, but having not had any significant hands on experience with Win 7 yet.... did you play with win 7 starter first and then upgrade...

What I'm essentially trying to find out is whether it would be okay to leave it on win 7 starter or will I find its missing something and have a serious moment and kick myself....

What are the major differences between starter and pro with respect to a netbook? I'm assuming all the main functions you'd expect would be there with respect to networking, connectivity, security, file handling etc....

maybe I'm just being foolish and should just upgrade it when/if I get it....

thoughts?

Are there any known performance issues across the win 7 range at all?

Thanks again

Hi,

Hopefully the right place to ask, but I'm in the market to buy a netbook (hopefully this weekend so I can use it next week). Have always had Toshiba laptops, but now need something more portable for work purposes. Wondered what people's opinions were on the budget end of the market?

I've seen a Compaq CQ10-101 and a eMachines eM250 at Tesco for £199. A colleague yesterday said eMachines weren't too good, so wondered if that's true? Someone else also suggested going for the XP versions as these will run quicker.

Any advice more than welcome thanks

Is it possible to fake a netbooks screen res so its either Zoomable or scrollable?

Just been trying to install the s/w from CD, via wifi to my desktops ROM Drive, for my new Canon Powershot A480 (£50 in Sainsburys ) but its complaining the res is too low for the installer. I'm not sure if its just the installer that the problem but I'll like to find out for sure.

Personally I'd go for the Compaq at that price

Those of you with an Acer Aspire One with Android, may want to check its updated itself as there is a new version.

The 16 icons in the sidebar are now up to 17 with the addition of a basic FileManager and although I found a setting to allow the install of 3rd Party Apps, there still isn't a Marketplace App to download them, so I've no idea how you'll get them.
