TWINS EFFECT II (Warning spoilers inside!!)
“Saviour of the Soul” syndrome strikes again!!!
Has anyone else out there been misfortunate enough to have shelled out for this garbage ? It can only be described as just under 2 hours of ropey cgi swamped lacklustre action served-up with some of the lamest Hong Kong comedy I’ve had to sit through for what must be a decade(!!). The only thing this movie has going for it is the stand-out duel between Jackie Chan (making an excellent cameo appearance) and Donnie Yen but even this is marred by your typical sub-standard bargain basement Hong Kong cgi work, and the scene is tarnished even further because you just now that the only reason that Jackie is in the film is to procure his pretty lame-arsed son (Jaycee Chan) the leading man role. Talk about a disappointing over-hyped wet fart of a film!!! Fingers crossed on rounding the day off with a spot of quality viewing. I’m defo not risking anymore Hong Kong slosh (I got THROW DOWN here still to view) so I’m gonna go with some quality Korean production (a toss-up between FACE and THE GHOST). |
If you had read the warnings on the original thread:

The first one was utter tripe as well. Steered well clear of this effort. Donnie Yen such a waste. Should have doubled his screen time in Hero instead of acting in this ropey nonsense. Smacks of 'in it for the money' syndrome.

I finally got round to watching this crap yesterday. It was so bad that I just fast forwarded it to the end, pausing to watch at brief to see if the fights were any good (only the Yen V Chan bout is worth half a look). Charlene And Gil are attractive girls, but Moon Lee and Yukari Oshima they are not. I think I also witnessed the beginning anf the end of Jaycee Chan's acting career.

It was shown on a plane I was on a few months ago but I gave up after about 10 minutes :)
|
I actually enjoyed it, as no-brain popcorn entertainment
I'll get me coat |
It was about as enjoyable as having my eye gouged out with a spoon.
|
Surely someone else out there enjoyed it?

But I'm rather sad and have lots of Twins cds and dvds.... |

I enjoyed jackie's part in it, the rest was pure crap...
But every movie with the twins in it is usually that.......... |
Yeah totally terrible movie, apart from the aforementioned duel between Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan... which only looked decent as the rest of the movie was whack.
I'm not sure if I'm watching the wrong movies or what, but I might avoid mainstream HK films altogether now. The use of idols, lame comedy and dodgy CGI is really starting to annoy me. HK's totally lost it IMO... |
there are still a few good movies once in a while, but all these pop stars vehicles are all the same, and usually crapppp...thats i am focussing mostly on movies from korea now.
