Phew! Utterly elighted and relieved to this morning receive a shipping confirmation on this mouthwatering set, given that it is to be a limited edition of only 5,000. (Of course, Anchor Bay's notion of "limited edition" has allowed much leeway in the past...)
At $54 (little more than half the RRP, which would have been a steal in itself) from www.deepdiscountdvd.com, I should also post this in the Baragain Forum.

Come on, postman!
Yay! My copy of this arrived this morning.
No! It's only the single disc version of nosferatu and the outer box is flimsy cardboard and was a bit bashed.
Is the 2 disc Nosferatu worth getting?
Apart from the bash on the box, it's a lovely set!
Old thread, did a search as I'm looking to get this boxset.
The 2-disc Nosferatu's only difference appears to be an English language (cut) version of the film by the way.

Ain't looked at it yet (it's at my other home) however the old 1 disc <I>Nosferatu</I> which I already own included the english dub! (it's a flipper)
As I understand the only difference is the 2 disc version has a anamorphic transfer.

was getting my info from the above dvdfile review......
Ah I see!
So they've placed the anamorphic German DVD in the boxset rather than the old non anamorphic flipper with BOTH versions?
That makes sense.

I saw it for £17.99 in music Zone, 3 days after I paid £19.99 in HMV :oh-hum: , still it's only 2 quid and the set is easily worth a lot more than i paid for it anyway.
Back from the grave this thread comes... If you havn't gone out and brought this set already, then get it now. The British set is available for just £23.79 at Amazon.co.uk (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00018HU68/thedvdforums-21) and the superior American release is now back in print - for a limited time only I hear.
If you need more convincing, I've just reviewed the entire set and more at Mondo Esoterica:
The Films:
Aguirre: The Wrath of God (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Aguirre.html) (1972)
One of the best films of all time, at least in my opinion - it is a haunting yet realistic story of madness and fever in the jungle with some incredible acting and directing.
Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Nosferatu%201979.html) (1979)
Another incredible film, a remake of the classic 1920 silent vampire film, Herzog’s production is scary and atmospheric in a way that no other vampire film has come close too.
Woyzeck (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Woyzeck.html) (1979)
A lesser known entry, this film was shot in just a few days and is based on a play that is little known outside of Germany. However, it includes some powerful acting and interesting direction, so worth seeing.
Fitzcarraldo (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Fitzcarraldo.html) (1982)
Herzog really moves a boat over a mountain in this exciting, although slightly rushed film. Kinski gives a rare happy performance.
Cobra Verde (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Cobra%20Verde.html) (1987)
The last of the partnerships is this rather flatly directed film with an unimpressive plot.
My Best Fiend (http://mondo-esoterica.net/My%20Best%20Fiend.html) (1999)
With the exception of some interesting archive shots, there is nothing new in this tribute documentary made by Herzog 8 years after Kinski’s death.
The People:
As a bonus, we have new biographies of Klaus Kinski (http://mondo-esoterica.net/links_pages/Klaus%20Kinski.html) and composer Florian Fricke (http://mondo-esoterica.net/links_pages/Florian%20Fricke.html), plus an all new 2000 word biography of Werner Herzog (http://mondo-esoterica.net/links_pages/Werner%20Herzog.html) himself.
Enjoy...!

Could you elaborate on why the R1 version is superior ?
I've put off buying this set for ages now (including when it was £17.99 in the recent Play sale) but the R1 set is $81 so it would have to be vastly superior before I would buy it.
So the R1 boasts sharper prints on most of the films over the R2? How much of a difference is there, I've been waiting to pick these up as with other ABUK discs the sale prices are great but may go for the R1 instead if they are that much better.

Well, the prints on the R1 disc appear to be considerably sharper - but with the exception of Cobra Verde I didn't notice the soft prints too much while watching. It all depends how much you notice these things.

limited time? can you elaborate more on this please?
Just scuttlebut that I read on a web forum (can't remember which one), but I presume it means that it is going to be a one-off print run, so when it sells out its all gone...
