View Full Version : Silent Running! Classic sci-fi
Have just review the new Universal SE release of Silent Running (1971) for DVD Times. The review can be found by clicking here (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=824&story=3180)
This is one of those films that does nothing for me. I can see why people love it so much, it just doesn't twist my niblets.
I think it stems from when I first watched it some 20 years ago, and it's very down-beat pacing affected me. I can't watch it these days without feeling depressed.
Strange I know, I'm not saying it's a bad film - just saying that it doesn't work for me.:(

This is one of my favourite Sci-Fi films and I always get emotional about the ending. Nice review Raph! Now I need to buy the DVD.

I think thats very similar to a lot of pre star wars seventies sci-fi isn't it ? I watched Logans Run on sunday and wanted to open my wrists.
Loved it as a child.
The child part left in me made me order it, not got round to watching it yet.
However I look forward to finding the time.
So many disks, So little time.........

Wot she said ;)
This film really upset me when I was allowed to watch it at the age of about six. It's one of my favourites though and another disc on the wanted list.
