Would have preferred the longer edition for this release, I think, but on the other hand it helps to justify getting it if it's different!
Tasty packaging!
Are we still talking about Il Mare. I have the HK R3 which is 96 minutes and never knew there was a longer version

Gone for it as had lots of Paypal in the account.
So ordered Il Mare, Uninvited, Untold Scandal and freebie from YesAsia. :)

It's been a hard day - just had a quality auditor in the department today... my head hurts :gag:

Just been able to get around to watching my copy of Natural City, and thought I'd give another:thumbs: to this one.
Don't know if I was alone here, but I though at times that this was both slightly confusing, and parts were almost "arthouse-like". Not a bad thing of course, it's good for a film not to be spelling out exactly what is happening, leaving the viewer to work it out.
I also thought the transfer was a bit grainy, but this is subjective.
Again - great movie and worth a buy:D

Re: Il mare new release
Cheap for such a sexy looking set. :norty:
ACACIA is already Out of Print according to yesasia.
Is the movie really that good?

What's so great about the II Mare packaging ?.
Be honest chaps, it's the same cardboard digi-pack material that you all scream blue murder over when released on R1/R2.
If this was a Hollywood movie you'd all be putting off buying the release in case an amaray version comes out at a later date.

I'm giving this one a miss, from what I've read at least it doesn't sound that good.
Untold Scandal is now sold out at YesAsia. Just had mine cancelled.:(

The double disc set and anamorphic picture is why I'm buying Il Mare again ...
The thread has reached 100,000 hits!
Well done you guys for making it the success it is!
I wouldn't buy it for the packaging alone but hte anamorphic transfer really should be better than the one I've been watching

...and don't forget the DTS - I'm always a sucker for DTS (and special packaging... and limited editions...)

The previous release has DTS.
I'll get it for the improved subs only but it hasn't been confirmed yet that the subs are an imporvement.

My wife just called Spectrum, and they told her that they had someone proofread the subtitles for this new re-release. When we get a copy we'll open it up and compare the subtitles with the old DVD, and I'll try to report back here.

The previous release has DTS. Mine doesn't (the Korean edition), only DD 5.1 and 2.0. I presume you're referring to the HK version?
Closing. Can someone start up a new thread for this and mail the link to the mods using the 'contact us' link at the bottom of the screen.
Hope this is going Gold.
Cirrus888 - can you do the honours on the new thread please? :)

But yeah I'd like to echo the same, it's just a shame the thread didn't last a little longer and reach it's second birthday :(
