Loads of episodes from the first and second season of 80's The Equalizer have just gone through the BBFC, anyone heard whether this is for VHS or DVD?

Would you actually want to buy the Equalizer on DVD?

I loved the Equalizer. Can't wait for more news.

Probably www.universal-playback.com that will be distributing it as it's one of the shows listed on their site.

Their site is slow for updates though!

If they release the pilot yes, I'd probly buy that plus any other volumes. But not new, I'll pick 'em up in a sale or used at some point. That's unless they put them out at realistic prices. If old series were released at sub-£10 per volume, with four episodes a disk and in the correct order, there's loads I'd buy.

Deaks.

I remember when I was young and it was shown at about 10.30 on ITV, I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch it so I use to set the video without my mum knowing. From then onwards it's been one of my favourite 80's series. Edward Woodward is pure class as the Equalizer (Would have put his name but can't remember it), He used to always beat the ........ out of the bad guys.

I've been watching the Repeats on either UK Gold or Bravo can't remember that either :(

His name is Robert McCall :)

Its also on Granada Plus at the moment.

I hope that the recent episodes passed through the BBFC are released by Universal-Playback on DVD though I'll still probably buy the VHS tapes but add those to my 'later' than 'straight away' list.

Going by UP's recent releases on DVD and VHS, they usually put 3 episodes on per disc or tape.

I see this is listed on Universal Playback's site of having a release next month as a box set. I've checked with Blackstar and Amazon and they don't have any details.

Does anybody have more information?

Thanks
Craig

Just had a look on bbfc's site and Universal Playback submitted the following episodes at the end of March :

Pilot
Shades of Darkness
Beyond Control
Pretenders
Tip On A Sure Thing
The Cup
China Rain
Torn
Unpunished Crimes

In their usual style, Universal Playback have yet again released a mix of Season 1 and Season 2 episodes. They still can't seem to grasp the idea of releasing episodes in the broadcast/production order.

Maybe its for the best - they decided to give us the better episodes - there WERE some dodgy episodes...

"I equalize things"

Should be coming to HD/BR too as they have been shown on HDtv in the US (on the Universal HD channel IIRC, along with Nightrider)

I used to enjoy this until Edward Woodward fell sick and his useless sidekick took over for a spell.

But that period did provide two episodes with Robert Mitchum...
