The following three are life style systems comprising amp, five speakers, subwoofer, cables, remote etc.

Yamaha VS-10
Sony HTK-215
Digi-Theatre DTS

All should fall in your price range of £300. Do a search for all three as they have been covered to death over the months. Remember you will need to budget a optical or co-axial cable into your budget to link the amp and dvd player.

You might also want to check out the seperates route if you want to really maximise your sound for the money but the life style route is quite good though. I have the Yamaha and it rocks.

All you need to connect your dvd is an optical cable. I've got the Yamaha, and I'm pretty sure it came with one, but I can't remember cos I bought a new one. Same goes for a phono interconnect to connect your satallite/cable box.

Otherwise it comes with all you need.

Good man, you won't regret it. I reckon its the best of the £300 pound all in one systems. Tried them all and the Yamaha won for me. Where did you buy from in the end? I bought mine in June for £290 for www.leconcepts.com.

All the speaker cable you will ever need is provided. Its only cheap thin stuff but it works fine with what the amp outputs. You don't need any flash stuff plus its pretty easy to hide under carpets.

The only thing you need is an optical cable. The one fault of the Yamaha is it does not have a co-axial input, only two opticals.

On the upside it is pretty powerful in either Dolby Digital and dts. Has a programmable remote, loads of DSP effects if your into those kind of things, amp can be stored vertical like the PS2, speakers are of better quality and than the competition and it looks pretty good.

E-mail me if you need anymore help:) Or do a search. And if you want to see it in relation to other gear have a look in the home cinema sticky at the top on Page 4 and you'll see my setup.
