My dvd player has got a buit in DTS, Dolby Digital decoder already, so I dont realy need this decoder on the amp already.
I dont want to pee next door off, or shake the kids out of there beds with the sound, but would like a good sound system (with a radio if possible).

Any ideas?
What have you got?
I was thinking about this:

but do you know better?

If you've already got the decoders, a cheap but good entry can be via an old 6 channel input Pro-Logic amp. These can be picked up s/hand or ex-demo from plenty of shops for £50-£100. I got my Yammy e592 in exactly this manner (RicherSounds).

RS also have plenty of speaker packages, for a range of prices. If you don't require a lifestyle look (or if your lifestyle is suitably adjusted) you can get good value out of the £50 a pair Missions. Buy two sets (front and rear) and shell out a little more on the centre (another mission, can't remember which; £100).

That gives you 5 speakers and an amp for £250-£300 and will give you good stereo and lovely DD/DTS (depending on your player). You can add a sub when your neighbours go out/come round/die.

What kind of price point/look are you going for? There's billions of combinations of these things. The fun is finding one.

Oh, and don't forget stands for the speakers, and 3 phono leads to carry the signal from your player.
