After reading the Good omens thread was thinking about the TV series / movie of Anne McCaffery's pern books as they both seem to have been talked about for a long time now, never see the finished product

Slightly off topic (although I am interested in the Pern chronicles), but I seem to recall reading a few months ago about New Zealand being chosen as the place for a production of Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld series... this was going to be made for television. Does anyone have any more knowledge about this?

I recall reading this in the Australian press, as our useless government (lead by the right dishonourable PM John Coward) had refused to offer tax breaks, resulting in the project hopping across the Tasman to NZ.
