Tax Codes 2011/12

I'll be calling them tomorrow for a proper conversation but does anyone have an insight into how hmrc estimate your income for the coming year.

My new tax code does not include any personal allowance as they estimated my income for next year as just under £115k and (and I'd missed this) if you earn over £100k it turns out you lose your PA..

Now I do earn substantially over the uk average but nowhere near that amount.

Any clues?

The simplest explanation for this would be human error - probably someone miskeyed a decimal point or a digit somewhere.

I suspect they calculate based on the last year's earnings
