My 11 month old 43" Tosh Rp has 4 or 5 of what appears to be 'Dead Pixels' (ie: Black pixel size dots on the screen).

Now, afaik you dont get dead pixels on RPTVs.

Sound & Vision say its not a fault, it needs 'cleaning' and would have to charge for it.

Anybody else had this problem, and how much is to fix??

TIA.

I've seen pixels blacked out on RPTV's and I would have to clean them if I had any on my set.

The procedure in all fairness should be straight forward but you'd obviously have to be carefull.

Dust on the mirror may be the cause in which case you may need to investigate getting in there. I have seen articles on similar Tosh RPTVs describing how to do this but didn't keep the links. They're prbably found off some of the links I (minty then) left in the large RPTV thread.

It would more more accurate to say "no dead pixels on CRT TVs including CRT RPTVs". After all, there are one or two LCD RPTVs about and they CAN suffer from this. However, Toshiba don't do LCD RPTVs AFAIK so bad pixels, it ain't. It almost certainly IS dirt on either the mirror or the back of the screen and cleaning is what is needed.

I had a dead pixel on my previous set, but it walked off the back of the screen whilst I was watching.

Suspect it was a fly.

Yup, clean the screen.

http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/usefulinfo/toshiba/tosh_manual.html gives a 43 inch TV service manual.

Gives details of service mode, screen/mirror cleaning etc.

Its not the exact model we have but it probably is similar enough to give some extra help.
