I have a HSBC cash ISA which I've had for a few years now.

I've not paid anything into it this financial year.

I just tried to transfer some money from my HSBC current account into it but it gave an error saying I wasn't able to.

This always used to work, does anyone know if something has changed?

Obviously I'll phone them later but don't have time before work and thought someone on here might know if anything has changed.

perhaps they now want you to DECLARE that you want to use your 2010/2011 allowance up.

maybe too many people just did transfers into older isas, and ended up having 2, easy to transfer cash between your own accounts wrongly on online banking.

I was looking at the terms for my old Natwest e-ISA recently (intending to transfer across the funds from the current year) and noticed the following which may apply:

Not paid money into your account for a year?

Download our re-activation form

UK regulations say that we have to lock your account if you don’t make any deposits for a year.

What rate you getting? Worth checking as its likely to be about 0.1%. Might want to consider a new one with a good rate

HSBC ECash Isa isn't actually too bad, its not market beating, but equally you don't need get ********** over by them dropping from a great rate to a naff one.

Their instant access products, on the other hand, are awful
