I found myself at this although in the cheapest possible seats and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. There seemed to be some sound issues early on though

Highlights for me included:

Alison Moyet...who looked incredible
Midge Ure doing Vienna with Jamie Cullum playing the piano part. Never ever thought I'd see that song played live
Mike and the Mechanics were excellent.
The Tom Jones set was incredible with Jools accompanying, in fact, everything Jools did was gold
As was the Eric Clapton bit....expecially liked Phil Collins playing the drums for him.
And the Queen finale was also incredible with Tom Chaplin signing.

Lowlights however were:

I thought Phil Collins phoned in his bit early on and you could barely make him out, he didn't even come out for the finale
Paloma Faith...meh
Status Quo....ok but suffered from poor sound
and Paulo Nuttini despite being billed didn't show

Sky are showing it soon as well (in 3d...yawn)

So...was anybody else there?

Never got to it but believe Queen played some old stuff? It's their 40th Anniversary next year and if they would tour with something other than the 'Greatest Hits' it would make up for years of disappointing box-sets and compilations :D

Queen have left EMI and are rereleasing the albums next year in collectors editions.

It was

These Are The Days Of Our Lives
It’s A Hard Life (with Tom Chaplin)
and Seven Seas of Rhye with Midge Ure on vocals

ending with we will rock you

I thought Phil Collins phoned in his bit early on and you could barely make him out, he didn't even come out for the finale

He has had various health problems over the last few years and is all but retired now. He damaged part of his spine during he 2007 Genesis reunion tour and he has had to have the drum sticks taped to his hands on occasions as he struggles to maintain his grip on them.

Not saying that makes it alright if he doesn't seem interested but may go some way to explaining it.

Who was singing for Mike & The Mechanics? Was it Roachford?

It was the singing he didn't seem into, he played drums for Clapton in act 2 and seemed much more into that

Mike and the mechanics had 2 singers, both were excellent, a black guy and a white guy but I don't know them well enough to name them
