Saw White Zombie supporting Soundgarden in 95. TBH they sounded crap live. Supercharger Heaven was mosh heaven though.

£30 is usual these days for established acts. Even ones who only manage 1 decent album each solo/in band.

Interesting may pop along myself. Not into him a massive amount (dont own any of his work) but hey will be interesting to see what he is like live. Mind you I expect the crowd will be crackers, I may get a few pints on me head.

In anticipation.

I saw White Zombie on the Astro Creep tour and, yes, they were great to see, but the sound was suspiciously similar to the recorded album. :suspect:

Ticketmaster really know how to screw you over.

I have the same feeling. Those 'fees' are a joke.

I'm surprised at the size of the venues, maybe I underestimated his popularity. I assume all the venues are under 5000?

Ste7en

I'm pretty shocked at the size of the venues as well. I'm sure he could have sold out Newcastle City Hall instead of playing the Academy. I'm not going to complain too much as I'm expecting these gigs to be pretty mental.

He fills arenas in The States.

I posted on the RZ board years ago almost begging them to tour the UK :)

Er saw him play Wolverhampton civic hall on his first solo tour which would be round about the peak of his musical career betwen his two best albums and that only has a capacity of 3000 and he's playing the Birmingham Academy this time with a similar capacity following an absence of many years and some lack lustre albums so seems about right. Aside from which he's been booked into the O2 chain and these days venues above a certain size seem to be locked into particular chains/promoters/agencies.
Consider yourself lucky he's not doing the usual London/Manchester/Glasgow tour that a lot of bands do if they actually go beyond London.

I'm REALLY chuffed they are doing a 'proper' UK based tour.

I would've traveled to see him though.

Wolverhampton civic hall must've been a great gig!

Had Monster Magnet and Backyard Babies as support. Rob was going for a Flying Dutchman living rough in central park drinking meths look and the back ground was a strange collection of rotating mechanical cogs and not just a backcloth.
Odds on he has a smaller budget now and you'll get a not dissimilar set with a smattering of later tracks thrown in.

Sold out at Brixton already!

16-10-2010, 18:41
I got my ticket :) O2 Newcastle, it holds just over 1600 I think. Pretty small considering.

I asked the guy on the counter on the Friday at around 1PM, he said there was less than 70 tickets left, so I assume they sold out soon after :) and their was a cue outside of a few people, that is a rare thing for that place as most never sell out, well not for weeks or even months.

Ste7en
16-10-2010, 20:34
Looks like just the balcony left.

I've been to a couple of sold out gigs there. Especially the Academy 2, which is basically a landing with a bar

I'm sure Ginger and Meshuggah were both sold out in the Academy 2. I think Korn (took my nephew) and Mastodon were sold out in Academy 1.

Should be a good gig

RomerojpgX
17-10-2010, 18:16
Yeah I have been to a few sold out ones, but it is fairly rare (or I just see crap bands and singers haha). It is usually the artists who obviously are way too big for the place and could easily go to an Arena etc.. who sell it out.

Academy 2 is nice if you are at the front, mind you I am always at the front on the barriers at every gig, so I don't bother turning round to see how packed it is. Some gigs you turn around and it just scares you. I imagine a Rob Zombie gig may well be like that and I may have to move off to one side so I don't get pints over my head haha

I am not a BIG fan of Robs work like many at the gig may well be, but hey it will be interesting that's for sure. I am also sure I will have to get there a bit earlier than the norm, as I know some big fans will be there many hours early that's for sure.
Gladly I will borrow an O2 phone off someone and skip the massive cues, I feel dirty doing it, but hey I will still go really early so I don't feel bad :D

I will have my ear plugs at the ready as no way I can take my ears getting any worse  I hope live he will be cracking.

Yup I was there on Friday :) bloody cracking show

I am in a bit too much pain now sadly, I was on the barriers and had the worst crushing I have ever experienced, sadly my ribs are badly busted from being crushed onto the solid barriers

Still it was worth it for photies and getting to hold his hand

Nice pic!

We were in the middle in front of the decks for the whole night. I'm a bit miffed to read that he came out after 30 minutes to sign all sorts of stuff if people formed a queue. We were home by then :(

Hmm... dunno about Download. I've never been one for festivals.

Still, I have Primus to look forward to now :)

Ahhhh I did hear was going to Legends after the show as an after party, party :D if you took your gig ticket you got in for £2 and "Apparently" he would be there as well with the band (I dont believe that it sound crackers him out on the Toon lol).

Still I got to grab his hand anyway, so in a way I met him lol and he kept spitting in my direction  the smoke machine and fire pits created awful black smoke, and I was blowing black out of my nose for a day after  so no wonder he spat so much.

I finally got round to sticking all the small video clips I took together. Here's the full gig condensed into 25 minutes, this is part one of two.

The intro drags on a little though, but I thought that at the gig

I was a bit miffed they didn't play 'What?' as that would have been great live.

I think What? is an awesome track and a big one to miss out :( I'd have loved to have heard "Everything Is Boring " as well.

Here's the second part.

No, it's a series of small clips I stuck together, total running time of about 25mins. By whole gig condensed I meant that there's footage of every track played.

That said I was amazed when I added up the running time to find it came to 25 minutes. Certainly didn't feel like it at the time.

He did play it at Manchester along More Human Than Human and Thunder Kiss. Looking at setlist.fm he played the 3 White Zombie tracks at Newcastle as well.

Not my kind of music, so not jealous at all of my friend who went along to Brum, but VERY jealous she had an Access All Areas pass and got to spend the whole gig in the pit, with only a crap compact camera :(
