Hi, I have a Philips 711 ans was wondering about the multi region hack. I have read that it has a limit to the number of times that you can use it.
Does this mean you have to do the hack every time you want to watch a R1 film or does it only last for x amount of watches???

if it is the same as the philips I used to have you were allowed a limitd amount of changes between regions before it locked ont the last region you used.
so if you changed to r1 you could watch as many movies you want set to r1 but if you keep changing the code between r1 & r2 you could only do it for a limited amount of changes
hope that makes sense:D

Thanks Chas  :) - don't think I'll bother then.
Don't want to risk locking it up and having lots of unwatchable discs.

Is there not a more permanent hack for this using a 'One for all' remote?
Go here Philips Hack (http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/hackable.asp?Page=18) and follow the instructions for the standard philips hack.
I`ve used this on the newer 622 and had no problems what so ever. Was very easy to do been region free for months now.

Thanks chaps - that hack looks great. Only problem is the one for all remotes needed to complete this hack have been superceeded and are no longer available. It makes reference to a 'magic' button which I think is no longer on them.
Does anyone know if the new ones or indeed the Sony rm-av2000t (my remote) is capable of outputting these special commands?
Sorry don`t know about the remote, if you have a palm pilot, or handspring, or know someone that does have one, you can use that. Along with a app called Omniremote. You don`t even have to register it to use the hack..
Its what I used anyways.. ;)
Good luck.

Thanks again for all your help. I've found out that the one 4 all digital - argos cat no: 534/0521 works. You just substitute the 'magic' button for the 'setup' button in the sequence.
Going to give this a try.

Many thanks to all that replied. Got/borrowed all4one digital remote from Argos - which does have the Magic key and performed the hack.
Chucked in a friends Knights Tale R1, a known RCE disc, and it worked a treat.
Well chuffed now - just need to find some good stuff on R1.
