Not even his greatest album and it's a monster set !!!
Another example of bleeding the gullible dry. There's a 3 cd version with the Nassau gig as the two extra cds but given that it describes Queen Bitch as butchered I wouldn't bother myself.
Wonder why Kate Bush hasn't received the same treatment with only one reissue of hounds of love. Irritating as I'd like the rarities album they released with the This Womans Work box set.

Not even his greatest album

I beg to differ! Certainly my favourite. Tempted by the box set, but can't justify buying it yet again.

Yep, it is his best album. Got the 3CD version - the studio album has at last been mastered properly on CD, not like the previous butchered 1999 release, and the live album is excellent despite being 'brickwalled'.

I could understand the indignation if it was, say, 'Let's Dance' (an album that clearly wouldn't be considered in a debate on his best work.) But this one is at least up for that particular discussion. It's not my favourite but I can understand why it is for many fans. (I love the idea of the fan club folder.)

I'm guessing Kate Bush doesn't have much cutting room floor stuff to collate before you even consider her Preston Guild release schedule. Hardly ever toured, either, so no live rarities. And, looking back, there are only a couple of albums I'd be interested in digging into further anyway, 'Hounds of Love' being one, and maybe 'The Dreaming'. A three disc fattening up of 'Never For Ever' or 'Lionheart' doesn't appeal.

Dosen't Bowie have his shareholders to keep happy. That's why there's a major rerelease ever few years a do. Or have the Bowie bonds finished now?

I was with my missus in HMV the other day when I saw this.

The look on her face when I merely picked up the £99.99 box set told me everything I needed to know. Set me up nicely to get away with 'just' the 3CD version though ;).

It's bloody heavy too.

I started to buy the various Bowie remasters....an artist that was badly missing from my collection.

I wish there was a boxset (like the beatles) that had all his albums nicely remastered in. (in uniform packaging)

I am not too fussed about extras/demos etc etc, but nicely packaged and remastered in one box would be a must.

Dammit, I may have to get the station 2 station 3disc set...I have never heard this album!

!

As long as the boxset forgot about the 80's.

I'm in the Ziggy era camp rather than the Berlin era mob (while looking up what is Bowies best album I did find someone listing that soul monster Young Americans mind :gag:).
Diamond Dogs with the 1980 Floor Show might be of more interest.
None of Kate Bushes video compilations have been rereleased on DVD. She only did the one tour (plus a few charity gig appearances) and that only made it as far as a cd/vhs release and is now deleted. She is the sort of artist that could be milked by the record companies

I love Young Americans and vastly prefer it to the Ziggy era, although I like the lot. Bowie, along with Neil Young, had an incredible 1970s.

This isn't even in his top 5 best, let alone THE best.

Both Bowie and Bolan made the mistake of dabbling with Soul (though in Bolans case he had already slid down the quality scale by that time) with little of worth to show for it.

Bowie only cut the mustard when teamed with Mick Ronson

It was just a shame I didn't get to hear the 5.1 mix

Exactly the same with me yesterday. I saw it and dashed across the shop, then I saw the price

Lovely looking set but I think I'll make do with the 3 disc jobbie. If it was Aladdin Sane or Hunky Dory things may have been different.

This is Bowie we are talking about so I'd expect to see them all like this

Think I might pick this up; I always really liked this album, and Stacey Heydon's guitar playing on the Thin White Duke live stuff is great.

...I wish there was a boxset (like the beatles) that had all his albums nicely remastered in. (in uniform packaging) There are various different sets of Japanese mini LP replica albums of Bowie available - like this lot on eBay (http://forums.thedigitalfix.co.uk/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=44&url=http://music.shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=mini+box+-ipod+bowie&_sacat=11233&_sop=10&LH_AvailTo=3&_odkw=mini+box+-ipod+tangerineowie&_osacat=11233&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313).

Not cheap, mind, especially with the weak pound. But fantastic quality and the sleeves are very nice.

I only wanted some when they were released, so I picked up an empty Low box and bought the half dozen I wanted to fit in it!

I think Station to Station is a real Bowie gem:thumbs:

A few years ago I would have gone for this, but I have now reached a stage that I just have not go room in the house or enough spare money in my Bank Account (kids:razz:) for any items like this, so Ill get THIS ONE (http://forums.thedigitalfix.co.uk/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8&url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003UTUQ3E/thedvdforums-21).
