Aplogies if this has already been covered, but I see that the R2 Bond SEs have been withdrawn from shops.
According to the person I asked about this in HMV, MGM are preparing all-new all-singing-and-dancing re-releases of the movies "coz the DVDs weren't very good".
Does this mean we'll see uncut versions of Licence to Kill and OHMSS? Will they have new packaging so that we'll have to buy all 19 discs again to get that 007 logo lined up on the shelf....?

I think they are probably the best series of discs available. The documentaries are all produced in a consistent format (with the exception of the last few).

If they did release those two again I'd just buy them and put them in the old sleeves!

They are withdrawn in all regions pending a re-release later in the year to coincide with the new film.
To my knowledge they will simply be rereleases of the old versions with no additional extra features.
MGM did promise to remaster LTK and OHMSS but I have not heard any firm news that this will happen.
As to whether the original discs are any good that is a matter of opinion - I like them and would consider myself far more informed in the matter of DVD's than anyone who worked in HMV.....!

LOL :)
Yeah, I think they're all pretty top class DVDs, and apart from releasing uncut version of LtK and OHMSS, I dunno how they realistically improve them (unless they do a dts track for each film...)

No, neither can I - there are a few little documentaries and promos from the older films that could be used but as much as I'd like to see them it would mean buying them all again. How many times can you justify doing this? I'm perfectly happy with them as they are - although I think the R1 series (which I have) is superior to the R2 as the menus as so much better but other than the different extras on the R2 TWINE disc everything else is the same. As for DTS tracks - I don't believe MGM would go to the trouble of doing this and is it really warranted? I'm not a big fan of remixed soundtracks - THUNDERBALL is the exception, although I believe it was originally recorded in stereo but not released as such. I have also been told the the last reel of OHMSS was recorded in stereo and played this way at the premiere. An uncut version of this film would be great but to be honest not a lot is missing from the current release. Best film of the series IMHO...for what it it worth. (More than a HMV employee obviously :) )
