Recently, my DvD's have been slowing down and being jolty. I'm using a Ricoh 9200A combo drive in my PC (Amd 1.4ghz, kt7a, 512mb, geforce3, sb audigy plat)
I took it to work and shoved in a slower, different DvD drive and everything played just fine. I noticed when booting up with the Ricoh drive in the system, it says ATA33, and the other DvD drive said PIO4. Not sure if this means much?
Just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced poor playback with the Ricoh systems, or do I just have a faulty drive that needs replacing? I've also noticed some DvDs play worse than others (Jurasic Park 3, Final Fantasy for example) play like a dog, where as some I can get away with, with only the ocassional jolt.
I also have 2 different O/S's I've tried these on (XP and ME) with XP seemingly more jolty and slow than ME. Both using PowerDvD 4.
Any help greatly appreciated.
