View Full Version : Tesco.com misleading the public?

I like many of you tried to order Metal Gear Solid 2 over the last few days of the Tesco.com VAT free promotion only to get the error message and therefore being unable to buy the game for £27.

After reading the email receved by someone on the tesco thread in the bargain forum saying they were no longer supplying the product due to it being out of stock at their suppliers I stopped by the site and guess what - you can order it for £35 today. So I emailed them to ask them what the score was and got the MGS2 standard email - out of stock with suppliers no longer taking pre-orders. So I went back to the site added one to my cart and got to the point where I had ordered it and only needed to confirm the order and then didn't confirm. So as far as i can see they took it off pre-order for £27 and as soon as the promotion was over they put it back on pre-order for £35.

I have emailed them to point this out I'll let you know if I get a response.

Its perfectly ok for them to do this as they probably only had x amount of stock put by for the promotion, or at least thats what they'll say.
Either way there entitled to do that & you cant force a company to sell you something anyway.

At least they have learnt a few lessons now and instead of taking orders and then cancelling without notice they do the decent thing and just pull it from the site.

I guess it's what you would call running a business.
