I've been told I shouldn't be using my Nationwide flex account for my 'business'. even though it was opened up with me saying it was to start up my self employed business...... was even given a credit card against that account as I was depositing enough money to be allowed one despite me only working for myself for a few months.....

My monthly income isn't enough to definately get free business banking (no charges) with Alliance and Leicester for example... shame as this would have been handy to be able to use thepost office in the village for paying in money.

So should I actually open a business account and if so any advice on business accounts to use?

Santander is free business banking, although if you're paying cash in there are charges after a grand a month I believe. Been with them over a year and never had charges but then most of my business is through online, bacs etc.

What gives Nationwide the impression you're using it for business?

The miserable mare noticed as i was putting in exact small payments i.e. 37.75, 43.50 instead of just putting them all in at once - just made my accounting easier!

I need to pay in small amounts of cash and cheques a few times a week but probably less than a grand a month so alliance and leicester would charge me.......

Might just use another branch of N until I can find one I could get to locally.
