I was thinking of getting something from Dv-Depot but have never used them before are they any good?
What is their average delivery time,
and how are they customs friendly (items around £25)?
I would normally get it from play but they don't stock it
and dv-depot are the cheapest according to dvdpricecheck

any advice / thought welcome

->they are superb! :clap:
->2-3 days with their DHL shipping
->you won't get customs charges with DHL (ever!), trust me & their "customs friendly" shipping methods ;)
->reasonable prices although if you're gonna use the DHL shipping method (which is the ONLY one you should use) make sure you are getting a few discs in an order as it's around $7 whether you get one disc or 7)

ps.check out their forum (http://pub36.ezboard.com/bdvdepotcustomerforum) also ;) any problems you have, just go there for help :)

yup - love DV-Depot, but really only when I've got a few DVD's to order to take advantage of the shipping. Just a small point to correct the info above, the DHL shipping costs £7 rather than $7 - quite a difference! Buy 7 DVD's and shipping's just a pound a disc.

Gonna be putting in a large order soon, but saving up first!!

Another thumbs up for DV-Depot. The BEST R1 supplier without a doubt. SUPERB customer service - I have used them since about 1998/99.

I'm a big fan of the Depot. I've been using them for over two years now and have never been hit by customs (touch wood). I also think their shipping prices are very good considering it by courier and as long as you order several discs at a time (unfortunately not a problem for me ;) )...

-as above-> 2-3 days although when orderin just before the weekend (as i've just done) you facing a risk of havin to wait til monday before you get your order [as has happened to my order :(] no deliveries during weekend of course.
-the dhl tracking times are local time i think although i was confused to see my order left the depot @ 3.10PM when they've always been picked up @ 5 or 6 in the past. somethin might be wrong with the site here.

you can however pick them up from the DHL dpot if you live near one - either on an evening or a saturday morning if you are not in when its delivered or if you can't wait until the following monday!

so how do we know which one they use to keep our packages before they get handed over to the courier on a weekday? on my tracking pages before, it says my packages have gone from east midlands to london heathrow and then get handed to the courier. surely this isn't my local depot? checkin the dhl site i would say the nearest one to me is camberley which is fairly near to me. is there anyway of checkin where my package will be tomorrow mornin? (atm it's most probably up in the air close to landing in the uk :))

the last DHL depot they leave before getting to you. For example there is one in Leeds which is not too far from me so If a delivery to me is going to arrive towards the end of the week and I am not in I will phone up DHL and they arrange to hold it at their depot in Leeds (after giving them the airway bill number) and they will hold it their for collection on a saturday morning. I've done it a few times now..

ok, thks for the info. i'm now guessin camberley is my local depot as it is most obviously the nearest dhl office out of them all so if that is the case i'm liking the look of the info given on the dhl site:
Camberley
Tel: 08701 100 300
Unit 2, Admiralty Way, Southern Trade Centre, Camberley, Surrey, GU15 3DT

Mon-Sun: Open 24 hours the only 24/7 dhl!
20:00 - 08:00 by arrangement, please call Customer Services.

so if my order does arrive tomorrow i guess i can pickup anytime over the weekend :) so can i just walk in there, give them my tracking number/id perhaps & take my dvds?

Make sure you have some ID with you - usually a piece of ID which has your photo on - Passport or Travel Card etc, and one showing your address - usually a utility bill. Sometimes ask for a further item to double check signature such as a Credit Card or Switch card etc...
