but that's just it, isn't it? looks good but then they have to produce 24 shows a year and keep that quality. very few shows manage it.

The voice over really kills it. Hopefully it's just for the trailer as he sounds as bored as Ford does in the Blade Runner VO.
This seems more Heroes than The Incredibles but thankfully without the emo. Well, with less of it, anyway.

Oh yes - I completely agree. I can already guess a few of the episode plots e.g. "One of the characters powers start to deteriorate and character realises how much they actually like having powers and it turns out that it was just a temporary loss brought on by a cold"

That didn't work for me, but with some jiggery-pokery (technical term) I got to watch it and....
....it was rubbish! The whole thing felt like a Disney TV movie. Infact, it would probably be better as a TV movie. I just can't see how this show will have any kind of longevity.
I liked it. Very corny, but didn't take itself too seriously. I'll be tuning in each week.

Man that was excellent, more enjoyable then season 2,3 and 4 of Heroes. Had a nice adventure feel to it and some good comedy moments "lair with wifi."
And what happened Julie Benz's she sounds practically normal in this?

Well we can only base our opinion on what has been broadcast so far. Some shows start strong and drop off, some start poorly and go on to become great.

I thought the beginning was terrible. It felt rushed with horrifically stilted and lazy dialogue. But then things got progressively better and when the powers started kicking off I enjoyed it. The dialogue never rose above 'lame' though; the only bit to make me crack a smile was the "bound not leap" line. They need to fix that. Also the daughter is annoying.
Yeah I loved the "bound not leap" line as well. Good solid start I think :)
Very disappointed with this, feels like a Disney channel, Heroes-lite show. Chiklis & Benz are always watchable but the kids were annoying. Very cliched, very predictable, just bland,bland,bland. :|
I'll give it another couple of episodes to see if it improves....

I was thinking Disney as well. It's dialogue does sound like it was written by one of those hacks that pump out those Hannah Montana type shows.
It's all expositional nonsense... 'and and then I did this'...'and you do this'... "oh we've just been in a plane crash and survived by eating insects in the amazon jungles for 3 weeks while waiting for rescue, my boy friend is going to be mad at me dad! It's all your fault"... "shoot me with that gun. Why don't you want to? Aren't you my friend? Of course I'm sane you silly billy!"
Didn't do it for me either. Another one off the list!

Wasn't sure what to make of this, started off really badly, very rushed (and enough with the talking to camera thing) but got a little better as it went on.
Did just about enough to make me watch next week but it needs to improve big time.
So I'm assuming the pilot will be back as I doubt they'd hire Tate Donovan just to utter one sentence and die offscreen.

Not too difficult, a new family show even the 6 year old can follow.

I have to agree with what others are saying about this. Just seems like it's aimed at a younger audience and not really doing anything for me. Shame as it has a decent cast (barring the annoying kids).
I enjoyed the 2nd episode more than the 1st. The kids power dilemnas are boring but I like when they concentrate on the parents dealing with the drawbacks when using their own powers.

I like it. Only 3 eps so far. No too hard to watch them and make your own mind up.
It's doing just about enough to keep me mildly interested to watch the next...
I thought the last episode was fairly yawnsome, and the whinging daughter is starting to get on my nerves.
I think I'm done with this. 4 episodes is enough, I'm bored.
I would really expect this to be on 'abc family' not the main 'abc' channel.

I'm liking it. Its the only one of the new shows that I've stuck with.
It's harmless fun, It's easy watching and more fun then watching a couple of things that i might drop

I was pretty bored watching it, but it's fairly family friendly and it's something we can all watch together.
It's something I really don't have to pay attention to.
I think I'm done with this. 4 episodes is enough, I'm bored.

It is starting to wear thin. I hate the fact that the dad has the power to jump on to the roof of an office block but can't control it. I'd imagine that he could still control the degree of strength he used, it's just mulitplied several times.

This faux family drama is sinking into mind-numbing banality, Chiklis is phoning it in, his character hasn't a bone of realism about him and this week's plot with the shooter, or whatever it was, was pathetic. I'm going to give this one more week (god knows why) if something remotely interesting doesn't happen then that's it.
Two things they need to sort out immediately, what's up with the evil teacher? The kid was in a plane crash and he picks himself up in school... that's perfectly plausible. And why exactly is JJ not telling his parents he has powers? That's contrived melodramatic twaddle.
Oh yeah and the graphics department couldn't lay some equations or something around the crappy 'football' project-O-vision. No.... they couldn't be bothered. Says it all really.

Just realised that it's Autumn Reeser as the lab assistant. I saw her name in ep1's credits but forgot she was in the series. She looks so different from when she was in Valentine and that was less than a year ago
The teacher thing is weird. Maybe there's a plot twist like the guy who used to be in Prison Break (I think?). I don't know why the girl is making such a big deal out of him using his powers, so the *** what? Come to think of it I don't know why any of them are making such an issue of it.
Most teachers would have some sort of evidence that the kid was cheating. It may be suspicious but if he was cheating wouldn't you be able to catch him? If he was cheating it would indicate that he cared about his marks but clearly he didn't care enough previously to work hard. You would have to conclude he wasn't cheating or now had some reason to care about his marks.
I realised this week that the school exterior looked familiar, it's the school from Donnie Darko. They also used it on Boy meets World.
Despite less than impressive ratings, this has been awarded a full season order.

I still watch this :lol: hopefully it won't survive long enough to be my new smallville. Was anyone else annoyed by that fire rescue? How would every third window, on every floor, in a building that size have fire coming out of it? Also If there was a fire that big in a building in the middle of a city it would be an international news item and be surround by news helicopters in minutes. They would notice if a guy jumped onto the roof.... thats what this show lacks, any degree of care or attention to detail in its script. They could have expanded the episode around that fire and chiklis character could actually have some difficult experiences and have to hide etc... then have to put that aside when he gets home in the evening. But nope... its "honey I can walk in fire now"..
Caught the 1st two episodes of this on Sky Anytime last night. Was OK..mixture of Heroes and 7th Heaven. Will stick with it for a while, though I do think Chiklis is badly miscast. Wanted him to go all Vic Mackey on the bank robbers on the last episode!

Watched the first two episodes...dodgy soap style drama!
Annoyed me when the police woman seemed happy for Chiklis to leave the crime scene in the car park, and yet tears him a new one for leaving the scene later on!
I hope the girls telepathy is not limited to finding out if her bloke is entertaining other ladies...
I will give it a few more episodes, but it really has not grabbed me at all!

This is sooooo close to being removed from my Sky planner...the whole sequence where he was trying to hide his face from the witnesses was painful...too much daytime soap stylee drama for my liking!
Was actually pretty good this week! :eek: Something resembling a plot seems to be forming!
Certainly looks like this will only have one season as both Chiklis & Benz have signed up for new pilot shows. Not a good sign.
It's definitely improved a little as it's progressed but I won't be upset if it gets cancelled.

Having watched every episode, I must admit I've enjoyed them all. OK, this is no heavy weight show, but as long as you do not linger long on the plot, works for me. Plus, now that Lucy Lawless as entered, what more could anyone desire.
Another bad sign that this show is doomed no. 436:
The penultimate episode was shown on a saturday evening in the US. The Networks almost never show a new episode of anything on that day. Even the likes of Firefly didn't suffer that kind of embarrassment.
Was actually an ok episode, although things are getting reeeally silly as the mom can now travel so fast, she leaps into the future!

i wonder if they introduced Lucy Lawless to increase the fanbase, as she's a popular tv actress. If so, they left it a bit late, could have done with her being introduced during the midseason slump where nothing was happening.. It's a shame it's unlikely to see a second season because i think it does have potential, it's just a shame that it took them about 15 episodes to actually have any of the main characters in actual danger..

I am enjoying it although I know the main opinion is its ****. The biggest problem, other than sometimes dodgy writing is that Julai Benz's character is not very likeable, being so selfish and hypocritical, no - you do not use your powers, think of your family, now I'll just nip to brazil or somewhere. She's given in more recently, hope they've realised this and dropped her condemnation of Kim using his powers.

Has it been cancelled yet through? I thought it was a decent show that got a bit better towards the end. Certainly better then most of the dross at the moment
Certainly plenty happening during the finale. Did feel like they tried to squeeze three episodes worth of show into one (the season was shortened by two episodes) ... Cliffhanger would have set up S2 to have a new dynamic but too little too late by the looks of things. Ratings continued to be dire & both the leads (one an exec. producer) have signed up for new pilots so i'd be shocked if it returns.
Overal, an ok show but I won't be upset if it doesn't return.
finally catched up with this, was okay nothing special...any ideas if its been renewed for a second season?

it hasn't been officially cancelled yet, but Chiklis and Benz have taken other pilots so it's fairly likely. The new pilots are 2nd place to NOF so if they decide to make a 2nd season the pilots will be recast, but the actors wouldn't have taken the pilots if there was much chance of renewal..
In some ways the finale might have actually harmed the chances of renewal because it teases a much bigger budget show, and if anything were to save this show it'd be how cheap it is to make..
Finally watched the last half of the season this weekend - don't remember the first half that well but the last few episodes seemed to be chock full of guest/semi regular stars from a load of genre shows. Thought the second half of the season started to look up a bit and it might actually have been a bit better next time round as a freak of the week style show.
