Hi,
Keep seeing star wars trilogy advertised on ebay, but I thought they wern't out. Are these the laserdisc rips, as they seem to have dd 5.1.

Anyone seen/bought these and know if they are any good?

I know for a fact they're worse quality than my 2x VHS boxsets.

From what I've read, there are quite a few different DVDs out there -- some good, some crappy. You're probably better off buying the official VCDs -- at least you know exactly what the quality will be like (plus if you've got a mate with a DVD writer you could probably stick them all on one disc :D).

Ive got the ones i think were ripped from the VCD? But anyway - it has far better quality than the VHS editions - plus im sure theres the original versions of the films floating around somewhere, so you have that advantage too.

I've read that the vcd ones go pixelated in very heavy scenes, but the laserdiscs don't.

Any truth in this?

Thanks.

p.s pls email me where you got them from.

I have the official Star Wars Trilogy vcds and I have to say that they are better than vhs, except where heavy action occurs when they are slightly pixellated. Well worth a look at www.videomas.com until the official dvds come out

are the vcd's and laserdiscs the same?

I heard laserdisc was better and it also has the dolby digital 5.1.

I've got a copy of the three movies on dvd - quality is pretty good (better than VHS) as is the 5.1 sound. I'll be keeping them as they are the ORIGINAL versions of the films NOT the enhanced versions. You have to be very careful when you look at buying this kind of stuff, and it can be quite hit or miss.

Hey Man,
These are in fact the rip off discs. I brought these in Thailand for £2 each. Quality is OK but I would wait for the real ones to come out...so your not disappointed.
