Is there any word of a region 1 release for any of these films?

I borrowed Battle Royale off a mate last night nd it was excellent, and I really wanna see Audition, but I don't want to buy the Tartan releases cos basically don't like them (can't find anywhere here that will rent them because they are region 0)

There is no information about an R1 release for Battle Royale - if you can play Region 3 DVDs, get the HK release. :)

If I were you and I wanted to see the movie, I would at least rent the R2 Tartan version

Get the UK R2 of Audition (it isn't that bad) and the HK R3 of Battle Royale (Full Rate DTS :eek: )

Neither even have a cinema release in the US (I reckon it will be along wait for Battle Royale over there).

Yeah don't bother renting Battle Royale, just buy it on region 3 its only about £8 delivered anyway!

Hasn't Battle Royale been banned in the US?
Agreed on the R3,cost me about £8 from HK.

No, just that no distributer has bothered to buy the rights.

I heard it was because they'd all been scared off from buying the rights, fearing potential lawsuits that may have appeared due to the film's subject matter.

I read that somewhere too, a previous delicate film received tons of hassle therefore no-one has ventured near this.

BUT, one of the releases is region 0, meaning that our US friends can buy it if they want to.
