I bought a Toshiba RPTV about 10 months ago, over this time my screen has picked up a few splashes, probably from the many cups of tea consumed over this time, I've tried cleaning them off with soapy water & it hasn't worked, the manual says not to use any specialist cleaners as it may damage the screen, so do any of you owners know what I can use to get rid of these annoying stains. :(

Please be careful with those screens!!! You think it's only a piece of plastic but you won't believe how much they are to replace!!! (£200+). I know it says not to use any specialist cleaners, but in my experiance it didn't harm my screen as long as you don't use anything too abrasive, dilute windolene in hot water

I know they cost a bundle to replace, as I found out when I enquired about replacing a scratched screen on my old 41" Sony, thats why I asked here if anyone knew what I could use as I didn't fancy having to pay out, or try & explain why I needed a new screen.:D

The reason the splashes got on the TV is that it is a really small room 10' x 9 ', with a 46" W/S TV, a 6' high equipment rack, a 6 speaker package, a floor to ceiling shelf unit filling the whole of one wall, plus a couple of chairs, & my computer desk situated on the side wall next to the TV, so basically there is very little room ( Jesus I need to get my own place  ), & this leads to accidents happenning.:(

Not cleaned mine yet but there are a few of the kids hand prints on it and it needs doing.Think I will try a damp cloth first and see what happens.

Maybe you can use the same products that are used to clean Laptop screens? They are non-abrasive and are often used with a special dust-free cloth or paper tissue. Try your local PC store...

The alternative to look at would be the microfibre clothes used for spectacles and camera lenses.

The spectacle ones are tiny but I know sigma do a foot square one for around a fiver. Try you local camera shop.

It's the only thing I use on my plasma, although I haven't thrown tea at it.

My brother had a 48" Tosh and used some polish and it took a coating off the plastic leaving an obvious mark. He was quoted £150 + Labour + VAT.

Whatever you do don't use any chemical cleaners!!!

I would have thought that the screen wipes used for laptops would be ok!
