This photography stuff is killing me. I've just gone mad and picked up a D3. For some reason I've gone from a 400D to a D700 to a D3 in less than a year.

More glass is likely to follow. I'm completely excited at the prospect, but as hobbies go, this is getting seriously expensive!

Is there a photographer's anonymous I can call before my wife murders me?

Did you sell the D700 or have you got both now?

Also, nice one.

I've got someone lined up to take the D700 off my hands, my missus is still using the 400D cos she likes how small and light it is, so I'll be running a dual Canon/Nikon house for a while!

I feel a sharp pain in my wallet!

I'm curious what extra you get with the D3 that you didn't with the D700?

I wondered that too...

One reason I'm curious is that the one thing I don't like about my upgrade from the Canon 400D to the 7D is the extra weight. The D3 looks like a monster!

7D isnt that much heavier than a 400D TBH I've not realy been botherd with the extra - its utter orsomeness makes up for it anyhow. D700 is a chunky ol beast I guess th D3 is even more.

I've got a 400D and a 7D in each hand right now, and the 7D is substantially bulkier and heavier. It is an awsome camera, but my back certainly knows I've changed camera.
Maybe all that healthy Kiwi living is just making you stronger ;)

It's a penis thing, amirite?

True - I have to carry the weight of both the camera and the penis. That could explain it.

Apart from satisfying my upgrade-itis, it's mainly dual cards and a bit more robust in my view. It also seems a tad more responsive than the D700 but that could just be a perception issue.

I should point out however that the D700 was new and the D3 is second hand, so it's a lowish cost upgrade for me in reality. I just know it means it's a slippery slope and I'm doomed to being kit rich and cash poor!

It is. I need a microscope to see mine, so hence I've gone for the biggest camera I could find. I'll be shopping for a 500mm lens shortly. ;)

Just so you know, I am jealous as heck of your new purchase.
