Hoping somebody here on the forums can give me some tips on how to use PaintShop Pro X2 to improve my gig photos.

The trouble is there are so many different filters to try, it's got me quite confused.

I have uploaded some photos of Bon Jovi at the o2 Arena which were taken at maximum zoom, high ISO and low shutter speed with my Panny TZ7.

Bon Jovi sample pics (http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/nickhowe/BonJoviO2Arena8thJune2010?feat=directlink)

Any tips on the right filters to apply to imrove these as much as possible would be gratefully received.

Cheers

I don't use PSP but it isn't filters you need, you just need to play with levels / curves to boot shadow detail / add contrast / saturation / possibly sharpen?

I've given up learning paint packages to learn how to tinker with photos - I never know how much is too much to apply.

Now I just do the auto-fix when using online editor http://www.picnik.com and that fixes most just fine. I'm no expert so it would be nice if one can put picnik's features into context - obviously it's not going to be as good as Photoshop, but are the basic fixing features good enough for most?

It's not free, but Lightroom (and especially the recently released Lightroom 3), would excel at helping you fix your pictures and remove noise (noise reduction is one of the big improvements in version 3).

The interface is also quite intuitive because geared directly to photographers and not graphics designers.

You can download a full 30 days trial here to see if helps you: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/

If you can get the education rebate (got any kids in school?), it would also cost you less than £100 should you decide to buy it.

But try some adjustments and noise reduction on your pics with the trial. You might be pleasantly surprised.
