View Full Version : [XBLA] Snoopy Flying Ace
Just been playing this and ladies and gentlemen we have a spiritual successor to Crimson Skies :thumbs:
It's just bags of fun, lighthearted and easy to pick up and play. Put a few hours into it already, nearly all of it into the multiplayer and can't wait to play more. It has single player, online coop, local coop and 6 - 7 modes for 16 player multiplayer. Netcode has been rock solid so far and just all out madness during the matches. Bargain for 800 points. There is of course a trial where you get 30 mins multiplayer in the free for all Dogfight mode so give it a whirl.

Sounds great been looking for a fun flying game. What do you do in it, its not all dog fighting is it.
Mostly, well certainly flying and shooting but a few game modes to keep things different
The single player is a set of challenges which you are ranked in by medals, there are turret sections (I really like what they've done with the zoom controls)

Aye there's a capture the flag style mode and I think there's one which is like football or something ? Called Pigskin I think.
I've mostly been playing Dogfight and Team Dogfight, tis great fun :thumbs:
I also didn't know that you could create a private match and either have a mix of friends and bots or just have a match completely with bots. Just a nice option to have whether or not you use it much.

Yep you get it after a 9 player kill streak in the multiplayer (not sure about single player). For a 4 kill streak you get Woodstock on the back of your plane with a couple of big guns - tailgunner :D
Looks like fun, there is a sore lack of flight games (planes or spacecraft).

Good stuff this, it's Crimson Skies with Snoopy players. :D
The maps are so small and you can turn so quickly it makes things very hectic. Doesn't seem like there is much place for strategy because it seems as if you fly in a straight line for more than 3 seconds, someone will shoot you.

It looks more like Propeller Arena than Crimson Skies. Either way, ftw. Next time I get some points I'll get it, unless everyone's deserted it by then.

I've just bought this and it's a fun little game. I don't get onto live that much as I have an amazing ability to just fall asleep in the evenings! My gamer tag is scottolaspitoon.
While wandering around Live the other day I saw this and almost bought it, only my desire to play Red Dead Redemption stopped me. Can't be long before I crumble.. (plus I can buy a Snoopy and flying dog house for my avatar :help: )
Also makes me want a XBLA/PSN updated version of X-Wing/Tie Fighter/X-Wing vs Tie Fighter even more.....
Still playing this and still enjoying it a lot :) Great to stick on for 30mins before bedtime, just such fun to play.
There's supposed to be a map pack out now as well, 2 new maps for 80 points. Shall get that when I go home.

There's supposed to be a pack out today for this at 400 points. Could someone please have a nosey and see if it's up and what it actually is ? Can't check it out in work unfortunately. Couldn't find anything about what it actually is when Major Nelson announced it. I assume it's more maps.

After buying this, I can see why no-one's playing it anymore. WHO the **** decided to put the most disgustingly overpowered vehicle and weapon in PAID-FOR DLC so that the only people left playing it are boosters who are unkillable?
Idiots. Deserved not to sell anything. At the very least, they should have made playlists to avoid being forced to play against boosters using the whirlybird. Aside from that, it's a decent Crimson Skies Lite, but it's so unbalanced because of the DLC to be unplayable, as it's impossible to get away from the people whoring the whirlybird.
hmm, i was thinking of picking this up as its currently half price but if its unbalanced i might skip it.

Aww man :( I bought the DLC but only had a chance to play with it once. Back then it was populated really really well, full matches in seconds. It's awful to see they completely ****** the community with unbalanced DLC. Well done plonkers, it's a bloody great game and you ruined it. Ah well still got the single player and coop to do so that's something to go back too.

You have to rely on people wanting to be sporting and not use a cheap, instakill weapon. You can imagine how often that happens.
That said, I think I'll still slog through to Ace for the achievement and avatar unlock. I'm at rank 64 already. It's a shame, as when everyone dogfights it's really decent. But what you get now is one or two people who have the DLC helicopter plane who sit a million miles away from the action and snipe you, and you've got no way of ever finding them or getting a kill back. I'd love to know what went on in the designers' heads when they thought up that, or if they even playtested it. These people get like 30 kills and one death. It's ridiculous.

we should try and arrange some games between us. I still kept meaning to go back to it. Never purchased the DLC, so I'm up for some friendlies if we can get a few forum members together.
