I've been thinking about upgrading my VHS copies with the new Criterion DVD's, anyone got them? If so what are the transfers like? and the Milos interviews?

I haven't seen either of these, but I can give a definite thumbs up to Criterion's other Czech titles from the same period - particularly The Shop on Main Street, which has a superb transfer.

None of which guarantees that the Forman titles will be up to the same level, but it's unlikely they'll be significantly worse.

If the Forman extras disappoint you may be interested in Milos Forman: The AFI Director’s Series. It’s a $10 R1 disc, in the style of Stanley Kubrick: A Life In Pictures (but about half as long and half as good). The interviews cover his entire career, they’ve talked to just about everyone and it’s a nice presentation, even if Forman himself is a bit of a Jackanory character.

As it’s of selective interest, only the big sites like Amazon.com carry it. But it’s worth it.

Yeah the AFI disc is a good 'un all right and the interviews with him are pretty good (although I didn't get that much more out of it having read his autobiography).

Howver someone must have the new Criterion discs to say what the extra's on that are like?????

More power to the Milos!!
