Tactical team on the way, Jack has Subarov (sp?) in his sights but Chloe talks him down successfully with a promise of hacking the NSA firewalls but then Chloe shoots Jack! (on his say so, but does not appear fatal). Nice work though, but was really hoping for a more eventful action packed episode and Jack getting shot so early on kind of put a damper on that, or so it seemed!
Liked Chloe's comment after getting frisked, but not as much I Jack's biting his ear
Logan persuades the president to kill Jack with his plan that is already in motion.
The pres refuses to sign the peace treaty and halts the process at the signing ceremony and tries to save Jack's transport from the ambush, but it was too late, Jack was kidnapped to be executed, and despite his injuries and being handcuffed still puts up a fight, but the hit is called off just in time.
Logan looks ****** though, and takes out his aide with the decanter and then shoots him! Definitely not what I expected! and then LOGAN SHOOTS HIMSELF!!! Does not die though it seems, pity as it would have been much better I think.
So Jack survives with a rather dissapointing ending really, and the pres tells him to flee the country! Then a very soppy call between Jack and Chloe with lots of crying!
Jack runs off into the sunset for the last time...
And a unique clock to end, a countdown timer to 00:00:00
Overall a slightly disappointing ending after last week's episode, but still left it open for a film in the future with the Russians going after Kim or similar.

Not sure about that.
I thought they would at least give him a happy ending but its left open for day 9.

Brilliant ending. Jack and Chloe's final scene was
I'm glad they left Jack alive. Half way through the ep I really thought they were going to finish him off for good. Good thing the ambulance-ambushing goons didn't just shoot him there at the ambulance, eh! Nice mention for his daughter too.
Knew Mrs President would come round to the good side eventually! Jack going all Hannibal Lecter on Pillar was ace :D. nom nom nom.
I thought Mrs Hassan's pen that she gave Mrs President was going to have a recording device in it and that would have captured her playing back Jack's recording. Can't you put SD cards directly into Macs like you can with most modern laptops? That SD card reader that Mrs President had was HUGE AND RETRO! She almost could have fitted a DLT tape into it! Props dept, nil points.
Glad we got the "events occur in real time" sound bite at the start one last time
I think they definitely ran out of budget for these last few eps though, not showing the actual ambulance ambush again, just showing it on it's side already.
:D  :D Thank You Chloe :D  :D

Yup good end, but not perhaps a great one. However Jack must definitely go down as one of the most memorable TV characters of all-time now?
It's been quite a ride and there have only really been a few episodes where it has been a bit of a chore, which is pretty good over 8 seasons. Gonna miss it.
Is anyone gonna tally up all Jack's injuries over the years? This season alone was bad enough.
I thought it was a disappointing end to a TV series. It wasn't even an ending, it was a prequel to the movie that many of us thought would be impossible a couple of weeks ago. The fact that it now seems inevitable sums up how unsatisfactory that resolution is to me.
So Jack can never see his daughter or granddaughter again, he's lost Agent Freckles, he's just said goodbye to Chloe, the only person whom he can trust, and he's just going to run away and exist in hiding. All this after wanting to die minutes earlier?
Lost's finale had its problems but at least I can mourn its passing, knowing it's a full stop. Here we're just left waiting for Jack Bauer's next 24 hours of ass-whooping.

Well they have been talking about a big screen movie for a few years now and it makes sense to move to that medium now if another network doesn't pick it up.
Well I feel better knowing that Jack's out there protecting us all from Durkastani terrorists and pesky Russians, dishing out beatings and torture and generally standing up for truth, justice and the American way! **** yeah! :D
It was a good ending, the final few mins - Taylor confessing everything, apologising to Jack and telling him to get out as she can't protect him. Jack saying goodbye to Chloe and disappearing off....
It's the ending to season 4 recycled. Swap Russians for Chinese, Palmer for Taylor, Ortiz/Arlo for Soul-patch/Bill(I think it was Bill).
I liked it, I really did BUT to me it should have been a blaze of glory where Jackie was done for, for real.

Would like to have seen more of Jack in the final episode (Jack Bauer = TV Legend). I'm sure I'm not alone here in saying I've seen every episode. The only really bad stuff was the Redemption thing they cobbled together after the writers' strike. Hope he comes back at some point.

Thank god I don't play drinking games with 24.
Loved Kiefer saying in his seductive wisper of a voice
"You try and make a move on me, the slighest twitch, I will put a bullet in your brain"
Really hoping they properly killed Logan off, the problem with the ending was that it was written before 24 was properly announced as cancelled I think ! But that Chloe and Jack stand-off was awesome (!)
Damn ending, brought tears to my eyes... dammit.
To think I watched this before Lost too, oh well as finales go, that was probably one of the better ones, as usually (Season 1 is the exception), the finale seems wrapped up within 5 minutes .. but the problem is, this one followed the same as Season 2 in that you had someone up top end up doing good... did enjoy Jack just out for revenge though, far better than some coffee mole with a slightly abusive ex problem.
Poor Milton never did get found. :(
I pity the cleaner on the early shift.

I thought it was the best end to any series of 24. Perhaps a shame that they didn't know it would be the final series when they made it, but I'm not sure if it would have made much difference given they'd have known they needed to keep as many possible routes for a film as possible open.

Loved 24 from that very first episode, agreed there were a few below par seasons but that's because they set the bar so high in the first few.
I'd have to put it as my favourite US TV show of all time, I really would.
Thought the ending was quite fitting as we all guessed they wou;dn't make a 24 movie without Jack so knew he would survive. As mentioned earlier, why didn't they just kill Jack at the ambulance crash or did they drive to that location as they presumed there would be no CCTV?
Also who else spotted the return of 'Events occur in real time'. Hasn't said that for a few seasons now, although I wasn't clock watching.
So goodbye 24, I have enjoyed watching you and it will have to take an amazing show to take your place as my #1. With Lost and now 24 al over what else is there to watch?

So it's all over. :(
Solid, if anti-climactic finale. With the 24 movie being peddled left, right and centre, the last episode was pretty much robbed of any potential shockers. We didn't see Jack either dead or happy, we didn't see any retribution for Taylor or Suvarov, we didn't even find out if Logan was definitely brain damaged. All of the individually brilliant bits were undermined by the ******* film coming out. Taylor's raw admission of guilt; Logan's shocking final act and ultimately cowardly end; Jack being shot by Chloe, Chloe's farewell to Jack...none of them had the impact that they could or should have had. In an earlier link to Howard Gordon's interview, he stated that the film had to adhere to where the TV show left off. I have to disagree here, as this is blatantly not the case. Lost's finale might have its dissenters, but at least it was bold enough to do "something". This was a fairly half-baked conclusion, with one eye on Hollywood's megabucks. And it's a shame, because this episode - and the series - could have gone out with a bang.
Still, it's the end of an era, and the end of a series which in its prime was one of the most gripping on TV. Chapelle's death stands out, as does Jack shooting Nina in the first series before she turned out to be a mole. And yet more:
- Palmer's offing in the 5th season premiere.
- Ditto Michelle.
- Chase's arm at the end of season 3.
- Jack finally sorting Nina out ("No, you don't.")
- Tony...no silent countdown? Why not? (Two seasons later...oh, that's why).
- Edgar's comedy waddle of death.
- Milo getting it in the face.
- Chloe breaks out the machine gun.
- Jack shooting Henderson's wife in the leg.
- The head in the bag ("I'm gonna need a hacksaw.")
- Bill

I agree with that. I felt the last episode lacked any real punch thanks to them having a film to look forward to.
They really should have killed Jack off and made it one of the most memorable endings ever. It would have been the ultimate and final injustice to his character after eight seasons of sacrifice for the greater good. And it should have been Chloe that did it, to protect the very greater good he always fought for, after Jack's grief-stricken rampage where he was so emotionally messed up that he wouldn't allow himself to back down. At least that would have had a nice poetic sadness to it.

An okay ending, but not enough Jacktion. Love how after that injury, and then being shot, Jack still had a go at his would-be executioner.
This season, like S6, has been poor overall. But the last 7 episodes or so have been great. Logan has been superb as usual, and finally some good acting from President Taylor in the finale.
Sad to see it go. I've watched all 192 episodes, and have enjoyed a large percentage of them. Bring on the movie!
A good way to go out although I couldn't help but laugh as jack was on the big ctu screen and the blood looked like red lipstick around his lips, all he had to do was throw on a dress and some heels and ran to New York's meat packing district, he would have blended right in and never been found

I thought that too
Well, I loved it. Will repeat what most people have been saying that there's going to be a huge TV hole now we no longer have 24.
Loved the final scene between Jack and Chloe. Loved the clock counting backwards at the end! But I do think it should have been a silent countdown - seeing as the show itself has died.
It's a shame what happened to Logan. I has hoping he would get his just desserts and be killed by Jack rather than try and kill himself. But at least he has brain damage now - though how anyone will be able to tell the difference is anyones guess.
Michael Masden didn't have much to do, did he? About 3 lines and that was it. What happened to him?
Also a shame that Aaron Pierce wasn't it. They better bring him in for the film.
Overall though a fitting end to a great series. As much as a I'll miss it I do think it was the right time to go. As good as the final few episodes were, the season as a whole wasn't great. But a great ending nonetheless.

I'm guessing his role in the TV show was to set him up as a part of the movie.
As seems to be the general thought, I too am sorry to see it go but realise it's the right time.
A great final scene between Jack and Chloe, that could have been equally as apropriate to have been spoken between Kiefer and Mary Lynn off set. She really has been a dramatic revelation over the last 8 years, starting out as little more than a standup comic and bit part player. Hope she goes onto bigger and better things.
Let's hope the movie can bring a bit of a fresh take on the concept. Looking forward to it.
I was a bit confused about the card Jack made of Logan and Suvarov having a phone conversation.
When the President was handed the card, I naturally assumed it was the same card Chloe was trying to send out to all the agencies to uncover the cover-up, but when the President played the information on the card, it was Jack talking to his camera phone.
So if that was the card, what happened to the card with the recording Jack made with Logan and Suvarov?
And was this the same card Chloe was trying to upload back at CTU and was snatched before it finished?
Was it a double bluff? Knowing that she might get caught, Jack gave her the card on which he made his "confession" and kept the card featuring the Logan/Suvarov conversation on him to use as some sort of blackmail in the future? Just in case the people Russians went after Kim and her family?
I do hope they refer to that in the film.....

I do hope they refer to that in the film.....I'm guessing both recordings were on the one card, and at the end of Jack's speech (had we seen it all) he would have something like "and now listen to these ************".

Just watched this. I liked it, and because I knew it had been cancelled I was half expecting Jack to get shot right at the end. Kinda wish he had, but at the same time liked the tribute to Chloe being there all along.
I've pretty much been a fan of 24 all along but seasons 1, 2, 3 & 8 have been my favs from memory. The others all seemed to be a bit dull mostly (in fact, I don't even remember what happens in them right now, apart from a nuclear bomb going off at some point and Jacks siblings saying hello) and were hit and miss for me - felt like they were making it for a younger audience or something. This last one though was back on top form with lots of deaths being thrown in instead of shying away from them.
If they do a film, hope it does the series justice!

Shamefully only just round to watching the last few episodes. Nothing more to say that hasn't already been said, except thanks for the memories Jack. Makes me feel old to think I was still in uni when it all began.
Favourite moments:
Nina is the mole (and the best one ever too :luv:)
Jack and the hacksaw
George trying to sneak out of LA to avoid the bomb, but ending up with radiation poisening and a day to live
Mike Novick 'compassionately' holding Lynne's hand so she couldn't point out he was conspiring against Palmer
Mandy shakes Palmer's hand
Chapelle takes one for the team  Definitely most shocking thing ever in 24
Hobo Jack at the end of season 4
Killcount in the season 5 opener
Jack taking on entire crew of baddies in season 5 (or 6?) getting a 'damn' from Curtis
Novick's grin as Logan is arrested over Palmer's death
Vampire Jack
Tony's alive - but bad, then good, then bad
Lasagne-gate
Assualt on the White House (with blueprints)
Terminator Bauer (with awesome mask) kidnaps Logan
and obviously the Jack/Chloe ending
I really need to re-watch Season 1 for the first time in about 6 years, to remember the days when a CTU mole was a shocking event, immunity deals were unheard of, and events actually occured in real time!
I wonder if Palmer's son is still fishing?

Subjected to some torture and died trying to do the right thing with Jack choosing to save the other guy IIRC.
Just watched the finale and overall I'm happy with the ending. They have to stop somewhere and they've been stretching it out for a long time.
For me Seasons 1 and 2 are several levels above all the others. After that it was mostly a matter of reusing ideas and the format becoming too familiar. Still enjoyable but not the same quality.
My best 24 moment ever: 22:59 of Season One "this is Helena". They left it so late to switch her I just couldn't see it coming. After that could see every mole two miles out.

finally watched the double bill of the finale, after recording the whole season over xmas.
Not a bad ending but so rushed and i expected something MORE. can't remember if tony is dead/alive but he could have appeared. or the 1st presidents brother (who was also president). Anyone really. a bit of a nod to the fans. Maybe jack ringing Kim or Audrey (or her senator dad coming in to help out and believe him).
I've only watched the last 2 series when they have done them all over xmas, as i got bored when watching 7 or 8 when on sky normally.
fave scene has to be
Chapelle's ending! soo shocking. and chloe with a machine gun.
And god, never work at CTU, you can be tortured and stripped of all power at any time of the day. Far too tense a place to work!
But it's a damn fine place to work if you're a terrorist on the down low. No background checks, come and go as you please and plenty of conveniently secluded corners to conspire in!
