Anybody done this. What is the sound and picture quality like? Is the dd 5.1 soundtrack kept.

No I haven't done it and NO the 5.1 sound is definitely not on it - otherwisw we would have 5.1 VCDs on sale.:rolleyes:

Hi there,

there is a tool to do a 1 step operation to convert DVD to VCD or SVCD its called DVDx Version 1.8 is just being released. As far as I know its freeware or shareware. It takes 1 day to convert a film, howewer it is true the 5.1 will not stay only MPEG sound. You can convert a DVD to DivX with 5.1 howewer you need a special DivX player to play them and you cannot play DivX on a DVD player.
