HELP:IS My PS2 Broken Or Is It The Game???

Got my PS2 on Wed and have been having great fun with GTA3.

I have had is standing up next to my tv on the carpet, with everythig running smoothly.

However, my stupid housemate knocked it over whilst we were playing GTA3 & now everytime i play it gets into the game and after a while it either says cannot read GTA dvd or i get plain surfaces blocky graphics etc,then crashes

I have a couple of demos which play fine.

Is this the game or the console????? Help i want my PS2 back:(:( should i take the game or console back to the shop.

Please can someone help a upset man:( :(

it has probaby given the game a lovely deep scratch, hence wasted game. NEVER put the ps2 on it's end, especially on an uneven surface like a carpet. even if it's not knocked over it can damage the discs. sorry mate looks like you'll have to reinvest! :(
