View Full Version : Sleuth R1 - DVD Times Review
I've reviewed the new Anchor Bay release of the marvellous "Sleuth" for DVD Times.
You can find the review here (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=677&story=2860)
Excellent job, Mike. Your review is almost as craftily written as the film. I too found Alec Cawthorne's performance a little too obvious, ruining one important plot twist, and the film was too theatrical at times - the scene where Caine picks out his clown costume being an excellent example. However, the writing and the performances were exceptional, as you say, and the sparing use of close-ups - a hand on the stairwell, for example - was very effective.

I wasn't going to get Sleuth, until I read the review, then how could I resist? A very theatrical film, but then again, that's part of its charm isn't it?
And I didn't realise it was only £9.99 at Play.com

So many films, so little time...
